Never run your battery down while winching again! This will pull forever if there's fuel in the tank and the motor's running.
Pretty rare factory option, never offered at all in the USA. LC80’s with PTO sometimes show up in Europe, but I’m not sure where else they were offered by Toyota back in the day. Not many out there. This was removed from a running, driving car (my daily driver for a year) and should include everything you need to install a PTO winch on any US-market FZJ80 with an automatic transmission and HF2AV transfer case (so 1993-1997 I think). It could certainly be adapted to other applications if you’re creative. The car it came from had about 210,000 miles on it when the winch was removed, BTW.
What you’ll get:
--HF2AV transfer case (for ATM) w/ Power Take Off, Center Diff Lock, and Viscous Coupler)
--Power Take Off assembly (bolted to transfer case)
--PTO drive shaft assembly including universal joints, flanges and mounting brackets
--PTO shift lever with bracket and hardware (for mounting under dashboard)
--PTO operating cable assembly with brackets and hardware
-- PTO winch assembly with brackets, hardware, and operating handle
--PTO winch cover (says “Mechanical Winch” on it)
--PTO compatible bumper blade (from a 1993-1994) including correct license plate holder, plastic filler pieces (for gap to body), and rubber pad that mounts to bumper under the winch cover.
Note the bumper is the blade only. If you plan on using it, you’d need to transfer the ends, brackets, and trim pieces from your existing bumper. It could also use a coat of paint and has a couple extra holes drilled in it.
The winch cover has a couple extra holes (1/8” or so) drilled in it where some knucklehead mounted a license plate over it. It also has a small cutout for the winch operating lever that shouldn’t be there. Replacements are available online if you feel the need.
The small rubber pad that mounts on the bumper above the winch cutout is made of a molded rubber piece over a metal bar, and the internal metal bar and captured mounting studs would need to be repaired due to water ingress/corrosion (or you could just replace it if you can find one).
Some of the metal brackets that mount to the frame show some surface corrosion. Nothing is structurally compromised and if a guy was OCD about such things, media blasting and a new coat of paint should have them looking like new.
Note that the fairlead is missing a roller. The OEM Toyota fairlead assembly is evidently still available new from various vendors if you wanted to replace it. An aftermarket fairlead would work just as well and be leagues less expensive. Note also that the cable and hook are both steel, which is period correct for a 1990’s 4x4, but winching technology has come a long way since then and synthetic rope and soft shackle might be a better (safer) choice in 2025 if you plan to use the winch.
This should fit any US market 80-series Landcruiser with an automatic transmission and viscous coupler. On the off chance that you want to fit it to a manual transmission model, you may need to have the PTO driveshaft shortened by a shop that does custom driveshafts (not 100% sure about that, but easy enough to do in any case). If you wanted to fit it to a truck not equipped with the VC, you'd need to swap over the rear section of your transfer case.
I don’t have a US-spec FZJ80 here to look at, but be aware there’s a decent chance that some of the captured nuts needed to mount various pieces might not be present in US models since these winches were never offered here, so you may need to get creative (rivnuts or welding in your own captured nuts). It’s also possible you may need to drill or punch a couple of holes here and there to get this installed. I have reference photos and can probably help if you get stuck re: how it all goes together.
I tried to get the whole system and I’m pretty sure I did. There may be a couple nuts or bolts that you’ll need, but they are readily available new from Toyota or online vendors.
I can also include the relevant pages from the Factory Service Manual and the Owner’s Manual showing service and operation information, as well as a parts diagram if you need it.
Local pick up in Boulder, Colorado preferred, but I can ship via freight to anywhere in the US if necessary. Figure about $300-$500 for shipping and you probably won’t be far wrong. It’ll be on the lower end if you’re closer to Colorado and you have a business address with a loading dock or forklift, and on the higher end if you’re farther away and you want residential delivery and they need to send a truck with a liftgate.
Looking to get$2950.00 $2500.00
PM if interested.
Thanks!
