Just have to paint the door jams and reassemble everything.

Looks good! I assume you get auto body paint kits somewhere?

Very glad to see this, this is close to what I want to do. Going to use a darker bright green like the FJ40 color back a few pages or the green on the 80 like on the second page. I am also going to do a yellow or other bright color pin stripe to separate, sort of like a jeepster commando my dad had when I was a kid. I like that it is a throw back look to the 55's too. Thanks for doing the work for me.

OD or black tough call, desert cammo looks pretty cool too

They do look great, and BTW that desert cammo resembles the official Army uniform texture from the Desert Storm era back in 91. The troops used to call it " Chocolete Chip Cookie cammo "

A question to the guys have have changed the color of their 80 - what did it cost?

Anywhere from $100 to $5,0000. It all depends on how much you're doing yourself, what you're recoating with (Rattle can? Duplicolor Paint Shop? Bedliner? Pro Paint?) and how nice it is .

two tone od green gets my vote

I went with the drab option... the dirt just blends right in!

Those weird splotchy things are part of the authentic desert camo pattern.

Yup, the DCU was changed in 1993, went from "Chocolate Chip" to the "Coffee Stain" 3-color pattern we have still after the chips were deemed unsuitable for most desert theaters. I always thought the chip-style was a little dumb anyway, 3-Color is what I had in Iraq for 03-04.

I'd say the newer 3-color would be a good call if you could swing it, if someone had p-shop skills they could illustrate it better than just me typing.

Desert Night Camo is pretty f'n awesome, but lots of work to do I'd think:

Drab what? That's not Olive Drab, it looks nice, but is that a greenish grey?
