I may be looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack---

but hoping the magical Mud Site can help.

My 1997 Desert Dune COLLECTORS EDITION got rear ended and needs a replacement upper rear lid, or perhaps just the rare smoked Toyota LandCruiser emblem at the center and bottom of the lid(photo attached)

I would be grateful for any leads on this elusive CE specific badge(or Lid). The Insurance company will pay mightily for this last component. Thanks for any leads to bring her back to original condition!

Around here we just get it fixed. That should be easy for a good panel pounder to fi

Last time I saw one of those NOS badges up for sale it went for over $300 if I recall correctly.

Mud member @citadel did an over the top no expense spared resto on his 40th and I think even he had to go used on that one. Hope you find one but they are kind of like hens teeth.

I just picked up a white 97 collectors edition and was thinking about replacing mine but after the feedback on this thread it looks like I might just have to live with it. Mines not too bad just cracked up a bit.

I can't tell from the pics, but is the CE badge damaged at all? The smoked LC thing isn't a CE specific thing is it? Just wondering if you could find another lid with that LC part, paint it, and put your CE badge on it.

Unfortunately, the rear "Land Cruiser', and the sombrero emblems are the black chrome specific to the 40th and CE trucks.

Black chrome emblems, other than the "TOYOTA LAND CRUISER" plate were dealer-installed options on the standard vehicles and came as a kit or individual pieces. All of that stuff is of course gone now.

If you are looking for the small "Collectors Edition" badge I have several

Not trying to hijack the op's thread but I would be interested in one of those.

Me too. Three actually.

Are the standard "Land Cruiser" rear hatch emblems still available in the chrome finish? I think I might investigate the possibility of modifying those. I bet it would be a major undertaking as they are cast in a clear plastic. Just the same, it might be fun to try. I need to go see my favorite 80 sitting in the salvage yard, I might grab that emblem to mess with it, as it is pretty well shot anyway.

The standard version is still available. It was around 130 dollars last time I looked. The construction does not lend its self to modifying the letters.

Thanks to everyone for the input. Ultimately found a nice rear lid and repaired the tailgate. Turned out beautifully thanks to an excellent shop!
I will post some internal rear lid parts/ badge, and a used front ARB and rear Kaymar bumper shortly if anyone is in need. Much effort expended but well worth it to keep the 80 for years to come....driving a new rental car during this process reminded me once again how well built this generation of Toyota is.

I have a question..... I recently bought a FZJ80 and I am looking for a driver side door. I have found FJ80 doors at a salvage yard and FZJ80 doors. Do both of them fit ? Can I replace a 1993 FJ80 driver door on a 1997 FZJ80 ??? I need some good advice fast.....Before the winter. Hahahaha.

91-92 doors do not have an internal "impact beam", 93-97 doors do. Door shell fitment is the same. Interior trim varies by year. I would go for a 93-up door to get the beam.

93 would be the first year for FZJ80.

@Muddy

PM me if you're still chasing a CE/40th 'Toyota LANDCRUISER' badge in smoked letters.

I have one NIB - more power to you if you found one, I'd sell but not eager to.
