Over the past few weeks, the AOAA staff have encountered some issues that, unfortunately, need to be addressed. We regret having to make a post of this nature; however, safety has always been at the forefront of our establishment. As we have received feedback from our patrons, we’ve always tried to accommodate these requests while still enforcing our rules. So, at this time we feel an updated policy is necessary to keep our riders up to date and all rules and policies cohesive through the entirety of the park.
Helmets: Yes, a helmet must be worn when riding, loading, and unloading machines, in the parking lot, and anytime you are on your machine. Staff have encountered riders on the trail system who have been caught without them, with this have come a lot of excuses. In the event you are caught without a helmet, anywhere on AOAA property, you will be escorted back to your vehicle/campsite and asked to leave. There will no longer be warnings or refunds issued because of removal.
Alcohol: NO ALCOHOL IS PERMITTED ON AOAA PROPERTY. Our staff does check coolers, etc. prior to riders accessing the trails. If you are caught with alcohol, you will be escorted back to the Trailhead and asked to leave. There will no longer be warnings or refunds issued because of removal. This policy stands true for those staying at Trailhead Campground. It has been voiced to us, by fellow riders, that individuals have been using Trail #1 and parking outside of the campground, using this to fill coolers. You, too, will be escorted back and asked to vacate your spot.
Conduct while riding: we sadly have been informed, along with video, of riders parked at the top of Trail #10, where the guard rails are, rolling rocks down to Trail #22. This behavior is completely inappropriate and unacceptable. All trails are two ways. If you approach a slower group, do not blow past them. Once they pull over, be conscientious and slowly drive past them. If they do not pull over, simply find another route.
Chainsaws: Chainsaw are only to be used on already downed trees, making a trail passable again. Under no circumstances should you be cutting down trees to make your path wider because your trail machine does not fit. If you are caught cutting trees, you will be escorted back to the Trailhead, ending your day of riding.
Parking Lot: the parking lot is not the place to perform tricks, donuts, warmup of the machine, etc. Speed limit in the parking lot is 5MPH. Speed limit on the access trail is 20 MPH. The speed limit on the Campground access road is 10 MPH. If our staff find you pose a safety risk to us, yourself, or other riders you will be escorted back to the Trailhead and required to leave.
Entrance to AOAA: All traffic coming to the AOAA must use the entrance on Route 125. Do not use the road crossing entrance.
Lastly, riders, we rely on you to be our eyes and ears. We simply cannot know everything that transpires. So, please, if you see something that encroaches on the safety of others, or the integrity of the trail system, please tell us. As always, thank you for your continued support and patronage.
