Inof on the following:
A:anybody been up the road that goes by Bland and comes out by the Valle Calderas. i know there are two roads that kinda paralell then meet on top and 15 years ago one of them was gnarly. Havent been since.
b: quebradas byway? ive only been on the main drag
c:cuba mesa? theres supposed to be petrified palm trees and megadon teeth.
d: access to the south side of i-40 around Carnuel
e: Magdelena area/Ladrone peaks
f: San Lorenzo canyon by Soccorro..... Just an arroy run?

A: yeah, we ran it two years ago. It dumps you out on hwy 4 near Calderas. Some part of it near Bland is still gnarly, especially in the spring time.

The rest of your list sounds very tasty.....

Been out by Bland quite a bit. 3-4 days camping and mountain biking everyday. You can actually drive all the way to Bandilier (sp?). Haven't been up there in a few years though. I have a map of the all the single track from Two Wheel Drive.

D: this area was fenced as I remember a few years ago. Was a good testing site close to town, but then was closed.

that is correct. I got to wheel a brush truck in there a few years ago when a homeless guy's campfire started a brush fire. but there's a big gate that keeps out vehicles.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Bland is that ghost town near Dixon's right? That area has been fenced off for more than a few years. We used bike up there a lot and ride the Media Dia, Carl Shipment, Beavers Pond, back past the tent rocks etc....A while back they said they were going to open up the town but they did not and some of us were waiting, but someone came out and said it was not going to happen. Anyways, like I said, I have not been up there in a while, but hearing how the fire hit Dixon's on the news, going to guess it hit that area too. It is or was a cool place to hang out, go by "the water spring" and just chill out and have lunch.

e. I've been across South Baldy with the FSB club. It isn't a particularly tricky trail but the views are beautiful and there are a couple places where the articulation and 4wheel drive get tested. Off of US60 go South on Water Canyon road, up over the mountain past a few mine shafts then you will come out at the Kelly mines south of Magdalena.
f. I've run up San Lorenzo twice while quail hunting, it too is a scenic drive but basically limited to driving up an arroyo. I was in my pickup both times so my sense of adventure wasn't as high as it would have been if I was driving it in my 40.

The FSB club is going to make the South Baldy run again in May, that's about the time it becomes passable again.

I think I heard the Bland Canyon ghost town is now just a pile of ashes.

i dont remember if the road i took fifteen years ago went directly by Bland but there were two roadsthat got you to Bandolier, one was still being maintained and the other had been abandoned by the NFS. any ways just trying to get some ideas for day trips with a little testing thrown in.

how was the quail hunting around san lorenzo canyon. im down for some bird sport.

any juicy trails to Mt Taylor from the east side via the Puerco or Cabezon?

Full size Bronco's............................If you can't run with the big dogs, then run with the big heavy widebodied dogs.

Just some good ole boy's that I know

It is. I heard from someone that knew the owners (and had stayed up there many times) that the town is completely gone.

There is a road that runs from near Cabezon and up over Mesa Chivato to the back side of Taylor, but it's only a open few months a year (two in the fall, two in spring I think) and should be closed right now. There is also a way to get from Cabezon to the back side of Taylor that dumps you out at Lee Ranch coal mine. However, the route is not very obvious toward the end, with a labyrinth of dead ends and locked gates. Takes a while to pick your way through.

Some years it's good, has been down for most of the state the last two years. I hoping next year is better.

b. Quedrada byway

There is something for everybody out there and it is pretty close. I went out with the Bronco boys yesterday, we ran the lower end of pucker falls and bad hair day along with a few other trails from moderate to hard.

Even got to watch "frankenjeep"(I think that is right) stand up on its tail

so where is that?

Socorro?
