Hey guys I been wondering since 79 series is almost impossible to import has anyone chopped 60 into double cab with short ute box in the back?

All you need is a welder and some ambition..

This would be better than a 7* series because the 60 body width is a few inches wider.

Its been done a fair amount on here. It takes a fair chunk of money to execute in a clean manner. Most I've seen don't turn out well with shoddy body work and weird execution because of underestimating the amount of money, time, and skill it takes to do a clean body cut. Then if u want to sell it, it can be tough finding a buyer with the same taste as the seller as far as mods go and it gets sold for pennies.

FYI they also sell a couple of stretched versions of the cab at +6" and +12" I believe. Find some donor parts from eBay or Craigslist or a rotted fj40 and have something really unique and if done cleanly a lot more valuable than a diced up 60.

Thx for the info, definitely will look into all the options.

That would be pretty awesome in my opinion.

some body types are easier to make look clean; the 6X series body has but a few decent looking options...that 55 should have been cut about 3" further back for a real single cab; but more like about 13" back for the extra cab effect...it feels a bit "cozy" as it is. Meh; it'll be easier to cool when I get around to the a/c...ps; brace the crap out of it before cutting...hth

Look up Creative Conversions in Australia, they do it all the time. I had a hard time finding in any pics of 60's though, found a few on their facebook page a while ago.

I like what they have done, chassis needs extended if you want a usable truck, I'm thinking of doing it, but on the other hand, lot of time and money.
