Not to hijack this thread... I wanted to let you know I just installed these for my brake light bulbs. They are perfect. Very bright and illuminate the brake lens properly.

First is the new one and stock one for comparison, next is both of them together, and finally the amount of light it threw on my house from 50 feet away (the last pic had the flash turned off, This is how much light they throw out)

That's a great price reduction but I'd rather deal with someone stateside...if you have any issues they can handle it with a simple phone vs someone in China. But for those looking to save a few bucks it's a great price

One of mine burnt out last week. That makes around 5 mos. of life, but it was in the same spot that had burnt out a regular bulb

No, dielectric grease won't help, the RFI is coming from the switching supply (the current regulation circuitry) that is in the LED module. It's a fact of life you'll have to deal with using this kind of LED unit.

FWIW the RFI issue seems to be hit and miss. Mine work without any audible interference, whereas my buddy's 97 LX has a very noticeable effect.
I gave been selling the 5w CREES for the 80s for a couple months with zero complaints thus far. They are the ones with the red metal heat sinks. I am stateside and I offer great support if you should run into any issues with them. In other words you would be dealing with a fellow mudder and should you have a problem, you don't have to ship faulty products back on your dime. Check my sig for details.

RFI will depend on input voltage and output voltage (and current flow). Basically depending on the switcher IC design and the frequency it operates at and how well the circuit is filtered at the input and if a shielded inductor is used and and and....
i.e. lots of variables can affect how much RFI is created AND what the energy levels are at different frequencies. Then we can add in the variable of the signal strength of the incoming radio signal that you are receiving on your radio. You could have say a strong AM station and all will be great, drive further away from the station and as its signal level drops, the background RFI will become more noticeable.
Obviously with a reverse light the effect will only be 'heard' when in reverse... With a brake light it could be heard everytime you press the brake pedal. And so on...
Pretty well all these units that you see (the ebay one, the one from the OP and the Mud guy) are made in China/Asia. I doubt the design goal of any of these units was to meet FCC RFI limits etc
Finally, there are no 5W crees.... LEDs are current devices, you can run the XPG Crees at up to 1.5A WITH ADEQUATE heatsinking.
Anyhow, in summary, the units with switching regulators in them (basically any of the high power units that aren't just a bunch of cheap LEDs with a series resistor as the current limiter) will generate RFI. How that affects your radio reception depends on other variables - such as local radio signal strength, antenna location, wiring etc etc.
I don't listen to radio either, so it's not an issue for me, I prefer my ipod/mp3 etc. Where I do care is using my Ham radios and for those it's only a 'momentary' issue while the lights/LEDs are on and again depends on the signal strength of the station I'm listening to.

Got these off ebay. Just installed them & they are very bright. Now I can backup at night with less fear of hitting something. I tried to take pics, unfortunately the camera battery was dead & the cell phone just didn't do it justice.

I was under the impression that these were the best reverse lights available, I also wasn't aware they were made in China I had been told they were made stateside.
Is there another brand you could recommend?
Hmm... I have not noticed any, then again I don't drive in reverse much.
I will test my local FM stations in reverse to see... If this happens in AM only then I REALLY don't care. The odds of me listening to an AM station and being in reverse are astronomical!
