Hi guys I have just noticed that the new used diff I have installed is leaking oil out of the pinion seal how hard is it to change one and does it change any settings if I undo the nut to change it

And can I also change it with out removing it

Can I do what this guy did

Can you feel wear in the pinion bearings? If it is leaking oil it is highly likely that you will!

Anyway... I did what's described in that video about 200,000kms ago on my rear diff.

And I even removed shim(s) to take up the bearing wear (and thereby stopped the new seal from leaking just like the old one had been).

But as I understand it, the experts would say "I lucked out" by not having any problems and that removing shims upsets the relationship (backlash etc) and that I should have removed the entire diff and properly set it up again playing with pretty coloured stuff like this:

Your decision...

Thanks mate I will give it a go as it won't be registered for a while just can't have oil leaking on my mums driveway or I'll be in trouble again

It was sunny for a while today long enough to get my primer coat done but the green will have to wait for another sunny day

Looking good your on the downhill run now mate.
Let me know if you need any photo copies of my parts or chassis manuals regarding the wiring. My H engine diesel harness has all components hooked if you need any photos etc.

The people next door are nice Koreans and are ministers of a church so I am very lucky
