Two sets on the local Denver CL, I'd take a spare spare if you want to split a set.
Looks like someone else is selling 3 singles (no affiliation): 2013 Toyota Tundra TRD wheels
$200/each is a good deal on a single, especially if you can avoid shipping.
Good haggling!
I recently put on new tires at discount tire and they inadvertently put on one smaller tire doh!
And I'm sure Discount has all the tires at the wrong pressure, too![]()
One of those other good reasons is exercising the spare tire hoist mechanism. With a 5 tire rotation done the same time as oil changes etc, the hoist gets used and lubricated.
Ever try to use a hoist that hasn't been touched in years? No Bueno.
Not a donut but I went with a 7.00x17 on a ~5" split rim off a HZJ79 I believe. It's very heavy but narrow and tall. Because of how high up it is I dont think it would be possible to hit it without other damage firstAs much as I hate them, I wonder if anybody makes a donut temp spare in larger diameter to match?
This is just the thread I have been looking for.Unless going 34"+ which won't fit... There's no point in not replacing the spare, if only to save a few hundred bucks?
The spare mounting area will take up to a 33.5" spare no problemo. It even takes my 305 width tire just fine.
If we were talking a mini-ute or soft-roader SUV, it would make sense to compromise on a spare. But since this is my adventure vehicle, to go off the beaten path, and tow my large camper, there's no way I'd consider anything but a full size spare.
That said, running a mismatched (height) spare is all about not overheating the diffs. The more height disparity, the more spinning (heat) the diffs will see to compensate. Minimal differences won't create any significant issues. 33" vs 31.5"...won't see me putting myself in that situation.
Look at it this way - $250 for good insurance that no vacation will be ruined by a flat. Or have a small problem turn into a much more expensive one.
This is just the thread I have been looking for.
I have a 2018 LC200 and currently have 295/65/18 tires which are right at 33 inches
I did not replace my spare yet because I was worried about the 33 inch tire fitting in the soare location
Just trying to confirm the spare tire location will accommodate a 33 inch tire
Thank you all in advance
If I change to bigger diameter tires
should I also change the spare to a bigger one?
In an event of a tire flat, will the stock original spare tire work? or will the drivetrain be affected? since 2017 LC 200 is full time 4 wheel drive.
for example during a flat:
3 tires are aftermarket 33'' and 1 stock size spare tire 285/65/18 which is around 31.5''. will that have any problems?
I assume a 275/60/20 KO2 fits underneath?
