Hi all .. Well finaly I'm here .. :D

Chains .. ja .. ! I need recogniza without tire chains Tencha can't go any place with suckers MTR .. ( useless tires in our mud .. )

Bad things ..

1. Weight .. chains, weight in your hands and much more in your tires ( loose performance ) and you can't imagine with mud on 'em.

2. Dirty .. It's my rule, run chains alwys, so if I get on the trail and see some mud ( 100 mts ahead ) put my chains .. no clue, coz it's really disgusting try to put 'em with the rig full of mud.

3. The worse part .. after you end the trail .. aaaaaaaaa the pleasure of pull 'em out ! ( keep fresh watter to wash you and set of clothes to change )

Pros .. !

1. As many already said .. improove dramaticaly the traction

2. In our kind of mud .. you have boggers or you have chains ..

3. As many of us are running diesel with low rpm engines .. ( no matter how much turbo you have ) it's pretty dificult spinn tires to clean as same as you could do with a big gasser ..

Let me search for a video comparision ..

Here are .. this is a 40 + 37" boggers + 4.88 + locked + V8 383 + bla bla bla bla ..

Here it's my Tencha .. ( no Turbo in this video ) all know the specs ... but the most important is, Chains !

Something to add ? :grinpimp:

At the end a set of chains well fitted are the best .. you can run, on road tires all the way and in the trail you chains ..

I take 4 min per tire .. always triying to do it faster ..

Now how can you tell if this is a 930 (or 911T, last year of production 1989), a 964T (last and maybe only year of production 1992/early 1993), or a 993 (produced late 1993 to 1998)?

Btw, I'm not sure either but I do know that the lips on the 993 wing did not turn up like the one in the photo.....my guess is a 930, FWIW.

less tractable tire.

I like the use of tractable here....it normally means "docile, compliant, manageable". So you Tennessee boys like to put the chains on the compliant ones. :D What do you boys do if they talk back?

nothing to add. your cruiser walked through that mud. nice work of that.

Thanks ..

But I'm not the only one with chains here .. are usual, coz are as better as any bogger or TSL for cheap.

Tapage, thanks for for the input and links.

In the thread linked by D'animal ( https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/183931-tencha-hj-60-a.html ) , in picutre #3 in post #7, in the bottom of the phot, is that rear wing on a Porche 911?

Yap .. it's a 930 1984 ..

Anyhoo, now I have desision to make; get chains now for the tires I'm running (32"s) or wait untill I upsize to 33's and then get chains for them.

Get the chains for 33" and use adjusters to make 'em fitted for 32" ( no big deal on diference anycase .. )

Cool, I didn't even think about getting chains that would fit both tire sizes. Doh!

Also, are there many roads down there where you can really enjoy the performance that the Porche offers?

Thanks again for the info.

you kidding? Panama has GREAT roads (especially compared to Costa Rica!!)... and the added advantage that you can probably reach an understanding with local law enforcement regarding speed limits at certain times/places.

side note re: Tntoyota's sig line- I've driven the mahindra SUV and ridden in the pickup. It ain't no toyota! not even close. they feel and drive a lot like their price tag looks: affordable.

the motor is pretty peppy, I'll give it that. And it is awesome that they are bringing a tD into the US market (c'mon Toyota!! You can do that!) but it is a far cry from a Toyota.

mmmmm not really .. it's my secont one. The first a 951 was a bullet ( more power for cheap than this one ) more stable but much more headaches with the lights and the electrical gremilns ..

I make this modd for the lights .. but never be 100% happy with it ..

This one 930 it's pretty simple .. and have much more road ( race ) feelings ..

If there anything like the 89-94's IDC!

Toyota is too busy trying to figure out how to make the New LC's IRS with a soft pillowy ride to deal with Mahindra. And since they have forgotten the market that has given them what they are today, I say sorry and good luck to you. (Toyota)

I'm not in the "take 100k wheeling" (or DD for that matter) demographic...
