Cleaned up the filler neck gasket and plastic housing. There is a third gasket still on the truck. Only Toyota would do such a thing.

Was wondering what the hole(s) were for. Then noticed this…Of course, I have no idea where the nut.

The other gasket.

I’m an idiot. There is no “third” gasket. Seems somehow I ended up with a spare. Pulled the gasket that was on the truck, and noticed there was a steel spring inside the section that clamped onto the body. Also found the nut. Lol!

Replaced the connector and wire cover from mine as the stuff that came with the tank got blasted when I did the tank. Added the connector support and vent tube clamp as well.

Added an adapter for the drain as the threads on the tank didn’t look too good. Didn’t want to be using those threads ever again if I ever have to drain the tank.
Used some Permatex high-temp thread sealer I had left over from my flathead build.

Cut the rubber strips for the straps. Took off some excess bondo and will touch up. After this, the tank is complete, and all that left to do is fix the one broken stud on one of the fuel line clamps and another on the body. Then it’s finally install time.

Very thorough work.

Stud on clamp fixed. Will scuff up with the Roloc disc and paint.

Finally got a chance to review the LRA install instructions for their 80 Series kit (P/N TLC80FR-PA-US). Definitely do not have the two “misc” brackets. Probably doesn’t matter as the two straps that I have do not reach up towards the top of the tank. So, it looks like I’ll have to position the tank into approximately where it needs be, then do some head scratching. Probably won’t get to it until Saturday.

Had a look s the Man-A-Free site, and they actually have better pics of the install than the LRA install instructions. I’m still not entirely clear how all four mounting points are supposed to be, but I figured out the one strap is bent and needs to be straightened out. Not sure what is keeping the tank from moving up, unless it just rests against the floor which I don’t like. Rather than mucking about with their two brackets (don’t like the idea of drilling two holes in the floor support and one in the floor), I would just rather weld a bolt/threaded rod in place, so picked up a M10 galvanized rod and some stainless hardware.

That defintely seems like they gave the mounting bracket/clamp design job to their kids. I would have expected better. It wouldn't have been that hard to do it right. It's not like that tank fits several models of trucks... or maybe it does.

At long last I finally have the fuel lines installed. It was a bear. Cleaned up the M6 studs for the fuel line clamps. Wrapped the lines with paper and tape to protect them while threading them under the body and up into the engine bay. The clamp in the engine bay was a bugger to get installed as it wrapped around the plastic spacer. Had to use a pair of pliers to squeeze/bend it into position. Also, one of the lines (lowest one) had to be bent 90 degrees into the correct position.

Still had one of the clamps attached. Thought I had a broken stud from what I recalled. Cleaned the threads on the stud and used MAP gas to get the nut off. It was so rusted I had to use a 9 mm socket.

Lines wrapped in paper before and after the install. Took forever to pull it all back off.

Some more pics.

Tank end. I’m using M6 flange head stainless steel nuts on the studs.

Moving from tank end across floor support. Need to purchase a clamp that goes right behind the e-brake cable. I have one “spare” clamp, but it is too short to reach the stud. Also, the other clamp in the pic which wedges the lines against the floor support needs to be tweaked a do the lines a little to make fitment better.

Looking up the firewall. You can see a stud for another clamp. I’m missing that one as well. Not sure why it is so much longer than all the rest.
