I hope to never be close enough to be able to tell how many scales a snake has between its eyes
Haha. Just step on their neck right behind the head. Then get a good grip on it and pick it up. Grab their tail and hold the body away from you. If they pee or poo it sure stinks.

An easier way is a shotgun. I try not to kill snakes though because I hate rodents.

Had a good time at City of Rocks. It was our maiden voyage in the van as a camping vehicle for two after selling our 31’ Airstream motorhome that we’ve been using for 4.5 years. We’re trying to figure out how we’re going to do it for the next year or so until we get a built out Japanese van next year. I want to thank Larry and Amanda for helping us get our tent up during 20 mph winds. Couldn’t have done it without you. Something to think about in our set up. My Rhino awning held up spectacularly. Thanks to Ash and Mitch for helping us remove tent from frame while we were packing up. Didn’t take many pictures.

Glad you had a good time at City of Rocks SP. Your camping set up looks good. Thanks for the pics.

That place is really interesting, glad we went and checked it out after thinking about it all these years. We stopped at the Catwalk rec area in Glenwood, NM and Mogollon historic ghost town on the way home from the state park. Driving through the Gila and Catron county is always a treat, even though it adds more time than bombing down I-25.

We knew it'd be windy but camping in it isn't always fun. The temps were decent but slowly got colder each day. Still, it was good to experience a new part of this awesome state and see and meet folks. We watched Justin catch fish at Catwalk and he was on fire!

Looks like it was a nice trip!

Ya know, I've know that technical diagnostic for over a few decades. I'm with you. NOT getting close enough to count.

Reposting these here for posterity. We had a good time and it was nice to see you all and sit by the fire. Didn't plan on camping much this summer, but this got us out of our rut. We were never finished with New Mexico when we moved. I doubt we ever will be.

Thanks for everything. See you in Ouray.

Camp Sunday night at the north end of the Gila. Temperature was dropping fast. Then, sleet and snow.

Woke up to 19 degrees and a very icy everything (tent, truck, windows, doors, etc). This is after I managed to get things together and into some sun.
