***CANCELLED**** I didn't garner any interest in this so I've cancelled my reservation and doing something different.
I have reserved the Group Shelter A site at Agua Piedra Campground for Memorial Day weekend (May 23 - 26). The CG is along highway 518 north of the Pecos Wilderness, near Sipapu Ski Area. I'm hoping to get a few folks to share the cost with me ($125/night). I've offered it up to some coworkers that like to camp but most of the usual suspects already had other plans so there may not be as many people as I'm used to. So I thought I'd offer it up to my other circle of friends that like to camp.
This site has a large parking area that can accommodate ~6 larger camping trailers (and tow vehicles) plus another ~6 vehicles fairly easily. There is plenty of room for setting up tents as well. There is a big outdoor fire ring, a cozy rustic cabin with big fireplace inside, potable water and a vault toilet up the hill. It's right next to the Rio Pueblo which should be completely finished with runoff by then since there was hardly any snow this year. And there are some forests roads nearby for exploring off-pavement. There are also hiking trails that come right out of the campground and head into the north side of the Pecos Wilderness. Taos is pretty close. Sipapu is just a few miles down the road. If you're in Albuquerque, it's about a 2 1/2 hour drive. We usually have a potluck lunch on Saturday and sometimes have folks just come out for a day trip on that day as well. Here are 2 links to the campground if you'd like to see exactly where it is and what the amenities are: Agua Piedra CG and Recreation.gov
