I have a couple of gander mountain cots similar but not as nice probably, but they have steel frames that are heavy as hell, and if it gets very cold out your ass freezes like in a hammock since your sleeping bag squishes out. I tried them twice and now they are for spare bed use if we have too much company at the house. I'm probably doing it wrong.

Most camping/military cots are designed to have a sleeping mat used in conjunction them they are only designed to keep you off the ground away from wildlife water and bugs.

^^ Cheap hard closed cell foam pad works great with them - don't need a huge air mattress on top.

The cold part is easy, we don't go camping when it is really cold. :) The cots we chose are large enough that neither head or feet touch the frames, that's a big deal to us, 6'3" and 6'. Heather will probably make up a couple 1" pads with foam from work.

The big thing for us is getting up off the ground. Being able to sit to put on shoes etc. Couple the cots with a tent that is tall enough for us to stand up in and we are good. We have both had enough of sleeping on the ground. Even with the 4" foam pads that we have.

Izzy is probably a reincarnated officer of the British East India Company. At least he is until a tiger takes his leg.

I can't wait to see this year's camping china pattern.

Cots are for savages, this is what I am bringing. Pattern for 2017 Overland Expo chosen

You are keeping the virgins in the Annex out of the frame?

It's not @Izzyandsue set up but I scored this SUV tent off CL. 10'x10' with an awning and screened in room. I half way put it up so I would know how. It will be nice to access the back of the cruiser and have a place to sit the buddy heater with out fear of knocking it over.

^^ Nice - kids will love that!!

Pretty damn cool man. I like it.

Gotta say this is evolving into one of my favorite threads.

I'm a member. Use my membership. I wonder if they check ID

Thanks...I would hate to order it and then get denied..lol.

I might just get the ARB chair. For $50 is there a better option? I like the look of the Oztent, but looks like they take up some space.

@Izzyandsue this would be great using the side of your tent. We can all park in a semi circle and it would be like the drive in :)

I have both an OzTent and an ARB. They are both very comfortable. The OzTent takes up more space but it's more rigid and I'm a big guy. It also has the edge on comfort. The ARB storage bag also tears very easily. I'd bought the ARB first and had to buy a new chair after my wife sat in it and decided she'd never use a WalMart chair again. I bought the OzTent at @lt1fire 's recommendation.

I have a pair of Cabellas camp chairs for about 10 years or so, still going strong

Hmmm... I'm looking for replacement beach/camping chairs. I would prefer aluminum chairs that pack down nicely.

We currently have three sets of chairs: cheap Dick's chairs that fold up, heavy steel camp chairs with side tables, and Walmart beach chairs. The Dick's chairs aren't very comfortable but the kids love them. The heavy steel camp chairs sits more upright but the side tables are nice. The tradeoff is the weight and they only pack flat and still take up a lot of space. The Walmart beach chairs are 10 years old and the last time we used them, the fabric tore and I was sitting in the sand in a chair.
