Ensure all of your injector connectors are properly seated and there are no leaks near the fuel manifold.
Confirm O2 sensors are in good working order. I had a truck in my shop for some work and they had rough idle and black smoke... was a bad O2 sensor and #6 injector connector was loose.

#6 is zip tied as the little nub on the injector came off. It is very snug though.

I am interested if anyone can chime in with experience. The Slee rear bumper is incredible. I, however, am not necessarily a fan of the swing outs for day to day use and don’t use the ladder/second swing out. I also plan to use my 80 to tow some around town as well as put a rack in it to haul two dirt bikes. I can pay a few hindered, order the tow kit from Slee pull the swing outs and still have to cut the crossmember. Or………just sell this bumper and weld together the 4x4labs or Dissent high clearance rears without swing outs (seem to have a better implemented hitch) and then either get the Bellfab spare tire carrier for the cargo area or build one.

Looking for input for someone who has gone to the no swing out and interior tire carrier or someone who has used the Slee towing kit or the 4x4labs/Dissent bumpers with the integrated tow.

Love the Slee. Single swing out configuration. It is a minor nuisance at times but I like it overall. Have considered a second swing out with ladder/cooler rack. Too much trouble for me for now. Added the Slee tow hitch (it’s the real one with supports and rated for towing). As this was an early gen bumper, had to plasma cut the hole for the receiver. I do not recall having to modify the crossmember. Very happy with how the set up works towing my custom camping trailer.

I have the same bumper. That is the tow hitch set up I was looking at from them. It said it isn’t rated, which all of them say they are unrated. Since it isn’t as integrated as the others, wasn’t sure it’s as strong.

They have a simple sleeve insert type one as well. This one is very well supported to the frame. Rated or not, it’s secure with anything an 80 can tow.

And for reference, my trailer is about 1000# unloaded. Probably tow at 1300-1400# routinely. Recently I towed 2 of these trailers daisy chained together to and from the Lone Star Land Cruiser Roundup.

Thank you. That is the one that I was looking at too. It looks from you pic like you can do the cut without removing the rear bumper too.

I changed out the plug as I realized I left them in the entire process of tearing things down and they are oil soaked. Still a rough idle and a MAF code.

Quick question as I’m finding different things…..this had a Land Tank Performance MAF for a supercharger with injectors before I took everything back stock. I tried another MAF that I know is good for sure and there was no difference. I’m seeing that on some of the Land Tank MAFs that the wiring was switched around. Was this one of the generations that would have and if so, which wires do I switch back?

in your photo above, pin 5 is the most left and pin 1 is most right. Reconfigure to match the below pinout.

Stock pin out
P1 – 12v – Yellow/Red stripe
P2 – VG – Green
P3 – THA – Blue/Yellow stripe
P4 – E2 – Brown/Black stripe
P5 – E3 – Brown

Here is a photo of what it needs to look like for the stock MAF.

Thank you!

First oil change completed. Yes, in a random parking lot. Used the 80 to help move out of our old place and it did fantastic. Just found a used V1 Bellfab cargo area tire carrier (like it more than V2) and can’t wait to get it here and installed. Rear bumper is pending sale and pick up. Not sure if I’m going to do a tube bumper or go with a 4x4labs. I like the Dissent super high clearance rear, but man are they proud of it. It’s been a busy few months, but hoping to get this thing into some rocks soon.

I removed the rear Slee bumper today. I have a buyer coming tomorrow that I will help
Install on his rig in his way to GSMTR. I will install the interior tire carrier tomorrow as well and decide what to do for the rear. He is giving me a Trailgear rear bumper that I may add to, but am leaning towards ordering the 4x4labs bare rear.

Also, I’m debating new suspension options, as the rear is about 3-5” higher than the front. It currently has OME-051 springs in the front, which I can’t find any info on and OME-3052 on the rear with Fox shocks on all 4 corners.

I'm not a fan of OME and haven’t liked the ride on any 80 I’ve had them on. I loved my Dobinsons on a past 80 and everyone that drove or rode in that rig said it was like a Cadillac. Talking with Cruiser Outfitters, they said you tend to not know what the actual amount is going to be with Dobinsons. I was leaning towards a 4” or so VT spring from them and their good old basic yellow shocks. Any input is appreciated. I know that Terrain Tamer is now being sold n the states now as well.

If anyone may be interested, I will be putting the 80 up for sale. The 80 is fantastic and all I ever wanted in an 80, but a lot has changed since I bought it. It has been running fantastic, but it’s not being driven much. I plan to finally make a run at welding and fabrication in a real capacity and this will pay for some new equipment. I would love to get another 40 again or mini truck to build at some point. It no longer has the Slee rear bumper, but I have a trail gear rear OR a brand new and powder coated 4x4Labs rear without swing outs ready to go. I’ll have everything ready to go in about two weeks, but wanted to put a feeler out there if anyone is looking. I’ll be around $20k on it. I’m open to partial trades for a 40 or 83 or earlier 4x4 Toyota Pick up plus cash.
