Our adopt-a-highway down here sets the dates, Does someone have any contact info for your area?

I have the bags, vests, and some of the pickup tools David Harrison donated to the club. Below is all the infor we would ever nee. I did the safety meeting this past summer so we are good till the summer of 2014. As far as the dates. It's nice to go on those days be we have usually just scheduled ours around us and disposed of the trash ourselves. All we need to do is make sure we tell them what day we picked up trash and how many bags of trash. It's important for them to have this info.

They also put new signs up for us which had to cost a pretty penny. I have a pic somewhere. As y'all know our section starts at the F mart and goes ablout half way to Jones Gap State park.

To All:

We have approached the time to begin our 2012 Adopt-A-Highway cleanup efforts. For those of you who are returners, we thank for your participation, and for those of you whom this will be your first cleanup, we thank you for joining the ranks. I, along with Ms. Kim Bobo, look forward to working with each of you to keep our roads as pristine as possible.

The Adopt-A-Highway is a completely voluntary program of the SC Department of Transportation. Typically, Adopt-A-Highway groups adopt a 2 mile section of a state maintained road for a minimum of two years. Sanctioned highway cleanups are held four times a year, and the first cleanup for this year is scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2012. If you are adopting a road that has sidewalks along it, please do your best not to place the bags of debris/trash in a position that impedes the sidewalk. We do not wish for you to place it off the right-of-way onto private property, but it is very important that the sidewalk is not completely blocked for pedestrians nor should anything be placed in such a manner as to create a tripping hazard.

The group leader, or a designee, is required to attend at least one safety meeting every two years prior to performing cleanups. The safety meeting for the first cleanup will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm on the fourth floor of the SCDOT district office located at 252 S. Pleasantburg Dr. If you do attend the 6:00 pm meeting, please note that the building’s front doors will be secured by 6:00 pm, so do your best to be on time. Lots of important information will be shared at the safety meetings, and it is also where we distribute the safety vests and bags for your cleanup. We have the new vests in case any of you have not picked them up for your group yet. The new safety vests are orange and have grey reflective striping on them, and if you do not have them, please discard your old ones and pick up new ones at the safety meeting. If you are not required to attend the safety meeting, feel free to come by the office at 13 Saluda Dam Road during normal business hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm) Monday through Friday and pick them up.

When your group has performed a cleanup you will need to fill out a report card that has number of volunteers, how many bags of trash picked up, the route that was cleaned, and the date the cleanup was done and mail it back to our office. If you prefer using email, that is also an acceptable, and preferred, way of giving us your cleanup information from the report cards. Mr. Jason Gamble is no longer coordinating the Adopt-A-Highway program, and it is very important that you either return these report cards to either Kim Bobo or myself at our office on Pleasantburg Dr., or email that information to one of us (willisec@scdot.org or boboke@scdot.org) These cards are how we track your activity, and once two (2) cleanups have been completed, and I have record of this, your signs will be ordered and installed on your section of road as soon as possible.

If there are any groups that have yet to complete a new agreement form in the past two years and are participating, or plan to continue to participate, please fill out the attached agreement form completely (including other volunteers) and either send it back to me, or bring it with you to the safety meeting.

Once again, our next cleanup will be Saturday, February 25, 2012 and the safety meeting will be held on, Thursday, February 16, 2012. We will be holding two (2) safety meetings on that day (12:00 pm and 6:00 pm) to permit as many as possible to attend, please plan on attending one of these if you have not done so in the past two years.

As a point of information, the remaining cleanup dates for 2012 are as follows:

May 19, 2012

August 18, 2012

November 10, 2012

We have not set the safety meeting dates for the remainder of the meetings but rest assured you will receive an email shortly before those times arrive.

I look forward to meeting you, and if you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please give us a call or send an email

If your truck is called "the Dent" what do you have to worry about?

Obviously u have never seen a good pic of the rig or u would understand the name. Actually i have made some good progress on it this year already. No point in beating it up anymore.....

wasn't exactly what i meant to say... Just don't want to get out in the middle of nowhere and break down thats all.

A statement like that in a single post is beyond funny. You need to go ahead and just wheel it. I felt that way about my old 62 until the rust took over and I got a few dents in it. Then it was skinny pedal everywhere. ;) Its nice to not have to worry about damage.

Well, call me flip-flop! Doesn't look like we will be going to TX this year, so if y'all want to move the Cove ride to sometime earlier in the month of March, I'm game. Right now its scheduled for March 30-Apr 1. Right now March is wide open. The following month has the Spring Fling URE trip on Apr 13th.

As I said earlier, this is a moderate to difficult trail ride - sliders are a minimum, under armor recommended. Body damage or worse is possible. Post up your date recommendations ONLY if you will be going.

Glad to see OTMT back again. Thanks Steve.

Thanks to UC for having it at Snowbird. I'm still putting everything together but there will be probably be a Rock Garden comp, catered BBQ meal, and maybe a blind folded driving course like at GSMTR last year. If you have big toys bring 'em. There are currently 3 big rock obstacles in The Bowl. Two of which I won't even attempt. More obstacles, and more trails, are being worked on.
