That would be sweet!

I couldn't get the pre-filter sock fully seated over the cowl intake without disconnecting the wiper linkage, and didn't have any spares on hand in case I broke any of the connectors. But the sock definitely feels like it could fit and snug nicely.

The other potential here is finding a production pleated cabin air filter with similar dimensions to what we need, and trimming/bending to fit.

NAPA sells bulk air filter material for custom applications. I've seen it before, but I don't know what it costs.

This is a HEPA filter out of a Miele stick vacuum. I think it's a bit smaller than the opening at the top of the motor housing, but maybe something can be put around it to wedge it in place.

Or, how about a furnace filter? Currently my air box is out of my truck, and I have a spare one too. I will see if I can get something to work, even a pair of bungee cords running across the air box at the top to hold the filter element up, whatever the element is....

Something like that would work in the area where the housings meet. If you could cut a slot in the fan basket housing and slide that in and out it would probably be a great solution. There just isn't much space right there, unfortunately. Removing the motor with three screws and getting something up into the chicken wire basket seems to be the least invasive solution, but doesn't allow for the best seal and it's a bit tough to maneuver things in there. Not to mention the chicken wire could really cut your hand up if you're not careful. First world problems, hu?

Because we want to over engineer what Toyota got right the first time. We have first world problems. LOL Besides, what happens when your passenger starts farting while you're 50 miles up the mountain?

Sometimes you want cool fresh air but don’t want the dust or pollen.
