Discount tire=$1200.00 w/tire repair replacement insurance
Mounting and rotation for life

4wheelparts=$850.00 shipped to my door
Cheaper but have to get them mounted and no insurance if something happens

2 blowouts would make it even. I dont plan on tearing them up but every flat ive ever had was on pavement when I expected it the least. Someone twist my arm.

Have you tried to get discount tire to price match. I know that Town Fair Tire around here with price match with the internet pricing but they make sure to include shipping.

20 to mount and balance a tire isnt that bad. 1200 is on the high side even with the rotation for life and insurance, which is proably a pro-rated price so you still end up paying something. if you want to fix the tires yourself get a good plug kit for about 20 dollars, saves the hasel of changing the tire, driving to get it repaired, insted of just pluging it yourself. save the money and do the 850 tires

Here's an idea. Go by Big O tire or a comparable tire shop. I bought 4 285/75/16 mounted and balanced for 774.91 they were big o tire brand but seem to be good tires, they had them on buy three Get one free deal.

dosnt hurt to shop around. if he could get the 1200 down to 1000 then that wouldnt be a bad deal, but if 1200 is the bottem line than shop around.

I manage a tire shop, and know that most every tire shop offers life-time rotate/balance, which will really help with tire wear. I would suggest getting the insurance if you're planning on any type of off-raoding. They shouldn't be charging you more than $20.00 per tire for road hazard at the very most. I would shop around, as that seems pretty high for those tires. You may want to cnosider another tire such as Nitto Terra Grapplers or similar. you could save a ton of cash and still get a great tire! Just my 2 cents...

I got a quote of $820 mount, balance, valve stems, out the door here in cent. cal. Only problem? the tires were $2oo+ away. (shipping) Too rich for my blood.

Americas tire price-matched tire rack for my last tire purchase.

That means $725 plus tax, mounting and balancing. Thats $912 OTD for 5 at my local Americas Tire.

in about a month,,, I'm going to these guys for five Maxxis 31x10.5 The sales guy "rudy" quoted me $600 installed. I love discount tire,,, but, they refused to match prices with these guys. If your rig is in San Marcos, their shop is about 40 miles south of ya.

I went the Discount Tire route - have since blown out two tires on the trail with sidewall cuts, both got replaced, no questions asked - they are local to where my truck lives - they replaced the older style BFG MTs (which have been discontinued) with KM2s

hubby has 4Wheel Parts tires and blew several over the years - also got replacements from them for free/prorated - but they are local to where his truck is, too - it becomes a major hassle if they are not in your town, since they always want to see the tire before making a determination on replacement

my vote would be to go with the local option if you need the truck to be drivable

i have had the tire replacement plan twice and both times i needed a tire they were no longer made.

Thanks yall, sounds like discount would be the way to go if I can talk em down a bit. Ill shop around a little when I get home as well. I know there are a ton of local shops aroud i can see what kind of deals they have.

BUY YOUR TIRES LOCAL!!! There is nothing like going to see the guy who sold them to you face to face than trying to talk to "tire rack" across the country. The $100 you pay more doesn't make a s$*@ of difference four years down the road. Just my experience.

I bought the 35s on my 40 from 4wp and had a local shop mount them and saved me $400. 4wheel parts has the roadside warranty but I didn't buy it because its mainly a trail truck that dont see many miles. I just started using a local guy that has beat every ones prices on street tires but charges a little more for m&b. I would much rather deal with local for a couple of reasons. Mainly you spend money in the local economy.

So I just got off the phone with discount tire and a few local places and Im told the 33 x 10.5 AT is going out of production. Or at least on hold for the near future. They can get the KM2 MT and they can get AT in 33 x 12.5 but no 10.5 AT. A asked the guy "what if I get the insurance on my tires and yall cant get that tire any more" he paused and said "good question". They were very helpful but didnt get me any where. So my new problem, 12.5" wide AT or KM2 MT thats going to be on hardball most of the time? How do the 12.5 ATs handle? How do the KM2s do on hardball? Another idea is going down to 31x10.5s and saving 20 bucks a tire. Thanks in advance everyone

Wow I hope they dont do away with the 33x10.50. I used to run old 33x12.50 bfg a/t on 10" wide wheels with manual steering and it wasn't too bad when moving. It was a little rough at low speeds. Then I swapped to 32x11.50 bfg a/t and there wasn't a big change. I cant compair those to the new 35x12.50 KMs I run now because I have power steering which is a huge improvement. I cant comment on how the km2s do on the road cause I have only drove about 15 miles on actual pavement but i have been told by many that they are a big improvement over the old kms.

I bought 5 33 10.5 15s BFG AT from Americas Tires (same as Discount tires in my area) with the warranty you speak of mounted and balanced for under $1000.00 . on top of that there was a mail in rebate on all bfg tires at the time for $100. I looked now and didn't see any rebates currently on their website but usually they have some sort of deal going, I would wait until after the Holiday madness

I purchased 5 33x10.50 KM2s in October. I got them from a local tire store, I think it was around 950 mounted and balanced. As of right now I have a little over a thousand miles on them, almost all pavement/gravel. They are quiet and handle well (for a 40) I am pretty happy with them so far.
