So an update..dealer says the AC evaporator and thermistor has been replaced. The deal is a 2004 LC in clean condition with 120k miles for 18,600. Clean Carfax 2 owner. Most maintenence has been done in a timely manner, Timing belt at 80k miles, front brakes/bearings at 60k. As far as I can tell spark plugs and tranny/diff/transfercase/coolant changes have never been done. What do you all think about the deal and the vehicle? I am worried about the milage and the fact that I dont have the time nor the skills to do maintenence/repairs myself.

Thanks

You guys sure seem to be finding better deals than I'm finding!

Rigger,

I realze I am new on this forum but Ive been looking at these for a while and I have realized that dealers are willing to go lower on these than private owners. They are great vehicles, but in all honesty body on frame suvs that get 15 mpg on a good day are not really in huge demand at the present time. It seems as if the private owners selling these are a little behind the dealers in figuring this out.

That is a great deal, I would buy it! Don't worry about the mileage, and the maintenance will eventually happy regardless at some point anyways.

I would baseline all the fluids and they you are good for another 60k until the next big service interval.

I had one scoped out at a dealer, mentioned it in an earlier post. That dealer would not budge on the price, not one dime. I walked away from that one.

I bought this one an hour ago for $23k. See post #2521 above. It has a few minor issues, but is otherwise very clean.

It seemed to me that the deals on these trucks are down south. Arizona, Texas, etc. That would require traveling or shipping. I did not want those hassles.

The truck I bought is an '03. One owner, 70k miles, near spotless interior, never wrecked, never smoked, good tires, everything works except that issue with the power door unlockers, has both electronic keys, tried everything and everything seems to work perfect.

I don't think I stole it, but I think I got a fair deal. I have not found these trucks to be easy to find up here in this market. This is a sparsely populated area, so harder to find them. Denver is nearest large metro area, 7 hours away. The folks I bought this car from are local business people, and I have a friend that is a friend of theirs. So, it all looked good, so I pulled the trigger on it.

I like it!

An '03 for sale near here. According to owner it is one owner, 70k miles, very clean, no smoking or pets. Several door lock actuators don't work - est of repairs from Toyota: $350 per door! She is asking $23,500. What do you think?

For $500 more you could have bought my '06, with full ARB front, WK sliders, 80k+++ service already done, with VAIS/tint & all the benefits of the 06 vs the 03, with just 33k more miles on her. Listed in classifieds.

ShirazAddict, why are you selling?

Do you guys think 118k miles is too high to buy? The previous owners did oil changes in a timely manner, but only one bearing repack at 60k, and I don't see any records of driveline lubing (or do dealers do that automatically with oil changes). From the amount of miles, and the area the vehicle was driven in I can safely assume it was mainly highway miles. I doubt the vehicle was a hard core off road vehicle...when I went to check it out I found happy meal toys and goldfish crackers underneath the seats.

A lot of people on here have bought cruisers with way more the 118k miles, I bought mine with 135k. What year is it? I wouldn't be too concerned about the driveline lubing if you don't feel any clunks.

It is a 2004. Interior is in very good condition which tells me the owner took care of the car. Only real issue is missing remote keys, but that seems to be a common problem, and the dealer has agreed to cut/program keys I get from ebay.

Took a new corporate job that is going to require 60-80 hour work weeks & 3000 miles of driving per month. I bought a Jetta TDI for the gas mileage and as a DD, and with the work weeks & schedule I simply will not be ever using the Hundy. I could park it for 2-4 years, and am tempted to, but the reality is that this job is a once in a lifetime opportunity that is likely going to be my last gig ever....and will require 5-8 years of really working my ass off. I bought the Hundy for family camping trips & road trips to our place in Park City---I will never, ever get to use it.

Thats a great deal and looks like the maintenance was done. I bought two 80's with 90K miles and the other with 160K miles, my 100 had 125K miles when I bought it. All are still running great. I would not be concerned by the mileage with proper maintenance

If you don't buy it, let us know where it is? :D

Yeah,

It seems to be a pretty good deal, only problem is the color (gold)--not my favorite but I can live with it. And the miles are a little high. I think I am going to have an independent inspection done and if it all checks out I will go with it.

Thanks all!

To most of us, 120K miles is low miles :D Just sayin (for a Land Cruiser)

i need opinion on three different lc im looking at right now and need all of yours valuable opinion because im not very experienced about cars.
here are some details to understand what i am looking into.

1. this is 1998 lc located in pennsylvania has 108k miles on it, looks very clean from pictures, no frame damage or prior paint, in carfax it shows 2 previous owners, first owner corporate and second owner private owner for 8 years. carfax record doesnt show any maintenance it just shows registration updated total of 9 records. im sure the 90k service hasnt been done which i wudnt have problem having done if i get it at good price, now i contacted the dealership who listed it at 13k and agreed to have it shipped to me in louisiana for 10900 total.

2. second im looking at is in oklahoma, this one is 1999 lc with 133k mils on it no frame damage no prior paint, i have not been able to get full carfax report on this one yet but dealer auction report for car fax shows one owner, 24 history records which means some maintanance must had been done at dealership. looks very clean in pictures, as far as i know 99 supposed to have rear diff locker switch which i cannot find in picture its missing. now this one is listed at 11k at dealer website but i found it on auction site where its listed at 10k so i can definitely make dealer come down at that price and if add shipping it will be back at sae 11k .

3. this third one im looking at is located just hour n half from me i can go and look at it. this is 1999 lc with 221k miles on it with no frame damage and no prior paint, quick carfax shows one owner and 14 history records which means not alot to dig about vehicle in carfax. from pictures it looks very clean and no differential locker switch in this one either. driver seat has a 2 inch tear in it, on dealer auction site it is listed at $8600.

now i need some opinions what would you do in this situation and also which one wud you pick on what basis. i will try to link some pictures as well to help look at the condition of vehicles.
