Any thoughts on this LC? I have the dealer talked down to $11,800, which I still think is a little high. He is only going to charge me $200 though to ship it back to me in Idaho. Thanks.

11.8k is a little on the high side; but I would expect to pay a little more at a dealership vs. a private party sale. To me, that truck would be worth somewhere between $8000 and $12,000, depending on condition, maintenence, location, tires?, lockers?, shocks? etc.

If it is the one you want and you can afford it, go ahead then.
I'd be darn surprised if you get it from the dealer below $11k.

Please report back:popcorn:

DO IT...Then figure out a way to drop a 5.7 in there...Now THAT would be awesome!!

There were several items of maintenance and repairs done at the dealer after it was traded in. Plus several other items in the past couple of years done at the dealer by the previous owner.

You'd also probably have to redo the suspension, bushings, ball joints maybe, etc. Lots of people on here update theirs around those miles.

But I'm going to agree with everyone else. Sounds strange. That mileage with a working engine would probably be less. Look at AAtlas1x's build thread for inspiration of what a high mileage 100 can be.

I would estimate a running 01 LX with 220k to be worth about 9-10k. So.... yeah, if you can get it going for 3-4k, it would be a good deal. All depends on what your time is worth.

3K 100 Series...drop in Diesel and convert to conventional style suspension. You now have a 15K LX diesel that nobody else has!

For comparison sake, yesterday I bought a 1998 here in Denver with 110k on it in great shape and loads of maintenance records from a private party. It has the locker, leather, moonroof, but no heated seats. It also came with a nice Yakima Megawarrior rack with extension on it. Before I took delivery he also bought a new/remote set (very expensive) and put a new windshield in. I paid $11.5k and felt good about it even though I realize that's not a steal.

I didn't realize they came without heated seats in the US?

Nor did I actually! I've probably looked at 20+ 100s over the last few years and never seen one without heated seats. I was really bummed about it because I actually use them very frequently, but it wasn't going to be a deal breaker with this LC. I'm going to retrofit at least one on the driver's side here shortly and maybe the passenger side if it's not too terrible of a job!

Winning!

Send to Slee for solid front axle conversion, then to Profitts for diesel conversion.

A year and $40k later, you should have a very nice 100.

My 98 is here in the classifieds for $9500 w/ 152k miles. I saw that one at Toyota of Des Moines and thought it was a little high, but I wouldn't be able to ship it. However, could meet in Denver or somewhere in there. I have a good carfax with most maint. done at Toyota Dealers and since I've bought it, I've had a friend that is a Toyota/Lexus mechanic due the maint. We are selling my wife's car next week so the LC will be going in for the TB/water pump, etc. so she can drive it through the winter. I may raise my price $800 if so.

How about this for a plan B; you can pick up low mileage take out engines from Japan pretty cheap, just swap one in and drive the truck.

Plan C. Junk yard 5.7....
