I'd be all over that for the wife if I had the means. Great find. Too bad it's a Minnesota truck...but it could be worse. Looks like it's been pretty well kept.

224k miles

They are looking to sell for about $9,500. Deal or no deal?

How high is too high of mileage for these beasts? I know the 2UZ motor is good, but the question is how good and what kind of typical problems do they have. I'm coming from a 1994, 80 Series with 239K.
What kind of change in gas mileage should I be expecting? Better? Worse? I'm getting between 10 and 14 mpg with my 80 now.

Any help would be appreciated

It should be on it's 3rd timing belt, check the maintenance history. Proper maintenance is more important than miles. Price might be a tad high, but not terrible. Mileage should be about 12-16mpg. Does it have the rear locker?

I wouldn't say the miles are "too" high, but the price seems high for that kind of mileage.

2002 100 series

So I am considering ditching my 2005 LJ with 53k for a 100 series. I found a 2002 with Nav, 71k, very clean, water pump and timing belt service done in the last month, no lockers. I'm going to be using it for mild wheeling and towing my boat. Want something more cush for long trips and expedition travel. Is the Nav/hvac integration a huge deal? How frequently do they go out? I can scoop this one up for $18,500. Thanks for the help!

NAV/HVAC integration isn't a deal breaker (to me) unless you're an audiophile since the stereo can't be replaced...it's just a cost that you have to keep in the back of your mind. They don't go out often, but when they do it's expensive.

2000+ all have center diff locks, but no front or rear lockers due to the additional of ATRAC. Better system IMO, and you can add ARB's later if you want.

I just picked up a '99 with 107k miles for $12.4k....rear locker and rear a/c. 90k service was done already, just needed new brakes.....the truck runs beautifully! I've had an 80 series ('96 lx450)...but this 100 series looks much more current. gotta love the LC reliability.

Buying a 470 - Ok Price?

Hello 100 Owners! I'm about to make the move up from an 80 and am pretty excited about it.

Gonna be a family vehicle at least for the next few years, but hopefully I'll be able to take it over eventually.

I've zeroed in on a very nicely kept LX470, Grey Ext and Int, 122k miles. My Lexus shows dealer service at 90k and 100k, but the last entry is March 2010. Tires are probably 50%. Totally stock.

Everything looks great cosmetically, I've looked at 70k trucks with much more wear. Exterior is perfect, interior is pretty clean with no rips or stains in anything.

Looks like I can grab it for around $21000. I've been looking for a little while, and think this is a decent price, but I wanted to see what Mud's thoughts were on the mileage and service records? It is a little higher than I would have hoped for, but I'm used to the 6 digits with my 80!

I still have to make sure every little thing works, but assuming it does, does it sound like a fair price?

Thanks for the input.

Fair enough. Regardless, it sounds like a good deal. I encountered a lot of the same thing you describe: Less miles, higher price, based just on miles, and in worse condition. Mileage on these is, as you know, not a big deal. I bought one with higher miles than I had hoped, but it was in much better shape than other LC's of the same year, that had half the miles. :)

I just purchased a Land Cruiser from the original owner. 99 uzj100 with 170K miles. Garaged and maintenanced. I paid $9500+600 dealer fee. It was the color I wanted and everything. When I say maintenanced I mean they did everything the dealer recommended (all fluids flushed, plugs, filters, timing belt, everything). So I think it is a great purchase for us. I had to switch from a truck, but it was 1st gen tacoma double cab, so kind of small truck...and I have one regret...not switching to this cruiser sooner.
Good luck to everyone buying and selling.

Congrats!!! Sounds like you got a keeper!

Yeah, it is definately a keeper. I love it the more I drive it. THe car has no rust, was a garaged Colorado vehicle, and no wrecks. I didn't get a steal for that year and mileage, but I got a great cruiser.

Yeah, this is EXACTLY what I am struggling with. I hate to buy cosmetics, but it often seems that the way a vehicle is taken care of cosmetically can extend to how it was maintained mechanically (not always of course). We are gonna have it looked over tomorrow and make sure all is well, and if so, it should be ours next week. Thanks for the input.
