When was the 90k done? At 166k you'll be coming up on another 90k service soon. I'd ask for a grand or two more than book value for your mileage and condition, but being close to a second major service will knock a lot of that back. It also depends on where you list it. People on mud know and appreciate the value of aftermarket items and may be willing to give you a little more for the rig, whereas people browsing sites like autotrader don't give a crap. In the end, its your truck. You have to price it how you see fit and adjust accordingly if you aren't generating enough interest.

FWIW, IMO kbb is the 'dealer's friend'. I've always found it to be high. I use a combo of edmunds and nada. OTOH, if I'm selling I typically find comps in my local market and price just below them and then don't move on the price. It's been a winning strategy for all of the car's I've ever sold. Granted, LC's are hard to find local comps.

Good deal for the mileage there. I paid that price for my 00 with 45k more miles on it here in CO a year ago.

That'd be a great rig for my wife if another vehicle were in the cards...

how to find out about accidents?

Found this 2001 cruiser for sale semi-locally, ran a car fax and it came back saying

Accident reported
Vehicle involved in collision
with another motor vehicle

Truck looks to be in good shape with 80,400 miles, rear diff lock, no nav, single owner, asking price is $13,995.

How do i find out what type of accident it was in, I figure the guy on the used car lot will just say a minor fender bender but can i find out for sure?

I won't be able to check it out personally for a few weeks but figured i'd look into it anyway. seems like a good price if the rust is minimal for a NE truck and the accident wasn't too bad

Unless the dealer has pics (and he won't) there's no way of telling if it was just under the 80% threshold for a total or not. Nor is there any way of telling if it was repaired correctly. Personally, I'd avoid a vehicle with any accident record sold by a dealer (I avoid dealers anyway so I suppose this is a moot for me). If it were a PP sale, they'll have pics and receipts to back it up.

The price is good, however rust belt an NE vehicles seem to run a few K less than out West so YMMV.

Good point and correct. Last year with e-Lock would have been 99. 2000 came out with ATRAC.

98-2000 100 series purchase advice

Hey guys, I've been driving an FJ 60 of the last 5 years. UNfortunately, i recently injured both knees to the extent i can't drive a clutch right now. Im looking at used 98-2000 rigs and have found a couple with 100-120k. Is there any year i should stay away from or anything i should be cautious of. As of now I'm just looking for that year range with the diff lock in decent condition. I appreciate any advice you can pass along. Thanks.

98-99 had the factory e-locker in the rear. 2000+ have ATRAC and VSC. I went with a 2000 for the ATRAC, and plan to add air lockers later once I need them. Best of both worlds that way. Some 2000 model year rigs have had transmission issues, but those are few and far between. Sorry to hear about the knees, that's rough.

I just drove a 2004 LX470 with 88k on it. The dealer is asking about $26k. It has some dings and wear in the leather. The back seat looked like a dog had spent some time back there, but I think it would need a good scrubbing. It drove very well. Brakes were tight, shifted smoothly, accelerated nice. However, the "maint reqd" light was on. I asked if they could OBD it. I don't think the salesman understood.

Will that light come on for oil changes and such, or is it a major red flag? I think I might be able to get them down some more, but it seems like a competitve price for the specs.

I sold my 2004 LX470 with 60K miles a year and 1/2 ago to CarMax for $28K it was perfect and had a perfect carfax plus no rust even on the bottom. I think $26K is a great deal. You can take the Vin to your local Lexus dealer and no matter what Lexus dealership in the country it was serviced at they can print you all its services. The 2004 was the last year that the oldtimers in Japan built the 100 series, they are the best year to own.

ARB front locker, factory rear e-locker, ARB front bumper with warn M8000 winch, Slee diff drop, Slee sliders, OME lift. I guess I will keep it and run the s*** out of it.

Purely a non-scientific observation ...but it seems like 100-Series resale values (actually sold) have risen a little over the past 1 to 1-1/2 years.

I would agree that there is a disconnect from KBB and what I have seen on some of the prices here on MUD. I hate to sell it but am driving a lot right now and need a commuter car for a few years. Might just buy a cheap honda accord and keep the 100.
