Whats wrong with this Ad?

I'm a FJ 60 owner and came across this ad...going to check it out today. Cam someone tell me what to look for or if this is way too good to be true?

187K miles is not alot on an FJ60 but what about the 100 series?

Let me know what you guys think.

Sorry man, keep looking, you'll find one! ;)

Regarding your OP on the 187k. Mechanically the 100 can easily go 100k past that. The real key is how it was taken care of.

I doubt there will be a dramatic drop in price based on the financing available. Once the snow flies the prices of all 4x4s go up (Here they go up about $1000). So move quick.

I would say decide when to buy, get the best deal you can and then make it yours.

I wouldn't pay a premium for AHC or consider it a negative if it was working well at time of purchase. Worst case you can replace it with the standard suspension.

when i was searching i found geography was a big determinant of price (and selection) too. do a region-wide search and buy a cheap ticket to go pick it up if a better one is found farther away.

In my experience, the availability of financing has almost nothing to do with resale value. I just paid (out the door) $15400 for my 2000 LC, which was financed. I use USAA since I'm former military, and they didn't even batt an eye at the loan...so even if financing was relevant to price, there certainly isn't any shortage of loans to go around.

Warranties, on the other hand, are very year/mileage specific...but not so much with loans.

Experienced sellers appreciate a cash buyer. If you are a cash buyer use this to your advantage. Dealing with a buyer that has to finance can be a major PITA to the seller. I recently sold my crew cab diesel to a guy in Wyoming that had to finance the purchase. Actually getting paid took an entire day and was very unpleasant.

There are not a lot of people that can come up with $15-$20k in cash and as a result most purchasers must finance. A lot of seller's recognize this and will give additional discount for cash.

A friend of a friend is leaving the country and not taking his 98 LC, it has 305k - i offered him $4,000.

Is there anything i should be extremely concerned about?
I plan on doing a vehicle inspection before i buy at the toyota dealership.

It has the RR diferential locking, i plan to build this thing into a offroad, weekend vehicle.

Overall vehicle shows real well.

Thanks for opinions concerns - and is $4k reasonable? i live in central texas

Well, I went with the 2000 after having it checked out by a mechanic.

I'm not a huge fan of the black 20" ProComp wheels, so am looking for 18" Tundra/Sequoia wheels as a replacement.

Appreciate all the advice, thanks! :flipoff2:

Interested in opinions on a choice between 2 LC's:

1. '99 w/ just over 100k, needs tb, bone stock, 1 owner - prob $11k

2. '00 w/ 160k, had tb @ 105k, ome med lift - $10k

Similar in condition and color, options, etc. I do like a lift (was planning on mild lift w/ bigger wheel/tire combo anyway).

Appreciate everyone's thoughts! Thanks.

Price on 2006 TLC

HI, I have been looking for a TLC and found a 2006 with 46,000 miles on it and in pristine one owner condition. They are asking $37,500 for it any thoughts and ideas on what i should be looking for. I'm really wanting to get into the TLC family with a 2006 or newer.

thanks in advance.

I would keep looking if it were me. I am not sure how long you have looked but it took me at least 6-8 months to find a 99 with 125k on it for 11,500. I think you could find one with lower miles. However, I am not sure what your time frame is...There are some decent deals down here in SLC. Are you able to travel?

I just went through the buying process (see a few posts above) and agree that there are good options around SLC for 99-00 LC's in the low-mid 100k miles around $11k. CO asking prices seemed to be a bit higher.

If you're ok with >200k miles and condition is nice, I'd think around $8k would be the right price for this region. Good luck!

Hey Sprocket! Welcome to the PDX LC club!

Personally, I would say that's a very bad deal. The 2006 does have the VVT-i engine upgrades, updated front/rear, and AHC, but that's a lot of $$$! Other than that, the 03-07's are very similar and you can get into an 03 with low miles in the low to mid $20k range. Try searching on crazedlist.org (a regional craigslist search bot) and see what else you come up with for comparison.

You may also want to look at the LX470 where you can get the AHC all the way back to 1998. Here's a guide on the changes by year if you're interested.

I bought a 2003 w/97k and all major service completed for $20k a week ago. If you really want something with less than 50k you will pay quite a bit. Personally I think the 2003 and 2004 w/80k to 95k are the current 100 sweet spot. These trucks have all the safety stuff and the five speed and are significantly less expensive than the lower mileage trucks.

I can do a lot of maintenance and mods for $17.5k.

Just my .02 €

:hhmm:I am in the market for a 2002 LC. I had never driven one before but was pretty sure that was what I wanted. I went to a local Acura dealer that had one 132k, clean carfax to drive it for research purposes....but the miles are scaring me off. It seems to have had all dealer maintenance, serpentine belt replaced. It drives great...the price is 13390. Is that too low? They said they wanted to unload it for the end of the month (too late) I am obviously very new to LC. What wear and tear should i expect if I decide to buy this? Will I have to replace the tranny? I can't find that the timing belt has been replaced, but the serpentine was replaced at 80. Any advice?
