I don't think I'll do the starter contacts this time, but what other items are wise to do while I'm in there? Specifically:

- Timing Belt Tensioner

- Idler Pulleys
I found mention of the bearing for the accessory drive tensioner/idler, anyone have a bearing number for the two timing belt idlers?

- Crankshaft Seal

- Camshaft Seals

I'll ask cDan to send me whatever he thinks I need, but it's good to get a last check of opinions here before ordering.

And what about that starter, I don't see how it's significantly easier while doing the timing belt? I'll try to do this all in a weekend, maybe plan some other weekend for the starter.

I just ordered 2 mintues ago from CDan....

Water pump and seals... thermostat and seals...

Thanks, I didn't see that list. Hopefully I'll have plenty of pics and a little wisdom to contribute when it's over.

I actually just got off the phone with CDan about an hour ago and while he certainly knew the basics for a 90k service, he suggested it was best to provide an explicit parts list for a 100, since he's a dedicated 80 guy when it comes to his own wrenching. I'm in the process of trying to get together something explicit since I'd like to get my hundy in the shop this week (as I'm out of town next week), but it's a bit of a kluge.

The parts list here seems a good place to start.

Since Spresso is teaching me well in the ways of the UZJ (and since I see a lot of shop 2UZ's), I've already made a pretty good list.

I have it at work in .xls file format and I will post it. I was preparing a list, in part for Dan and Amando (i4c4lo), and expanded it to include everything I would replace "while I was in there" and from my knowledge of what we do a lot of on the 2UZ in the shop (mainly Sequoias and Tundras)

:)

EDIT: A 100 series will be my next Land Cruiser. ;)

Beno, that would be fantastic. I've got a leaky debit card here waiting to buy some parts.

Do you get the lecture from Dan about IFS every day?

Yep, got my 90K t-belt goods from Dan over the summer. I did the t-belt, belt tensioner, idler pulleys, H20 pump plus the two little O-rings, thermostat and grommet, PCV valve & grommet, radiator hoses, serp belt. And yes, I have had Dan tell me there's no way he'd ever swap his 80 for a 100. I don't see how you save on labor by doing the starter contacts, as IIRC, you don't need to pull the intake manifold when doing the t-belt. BTW, my water pump still looked pretty good at 91K. The t-belt looked worn, but still could have probably gone to 120K w/o issues, and this is in AZ heat. The serp belt was shot (serp belts only seem to last 45k mi here in AZ).

I'll be moving to ABQ in a few weeks, so it'll be even easier to get parts!

I should've ordered these parts a week ago, vacation plans are falling apart, probably staying home to work on projects. Actually, I have next weekend off too, I'm not used to having weekends off. Ready for that list Beno! Definitely ordering from you guys, learned my lesson.

<<SNIP>>

And what about that starter, I don't see how it's significantly easier while doing the timing belt?

The main advantage of doing the starter at the 90k PM interval: The coolant is already drained and the air filter/MAF/intake assembly is already removed and out of the way.

And it seems a fair # of 100-Series start seeing starter issues around 100k or so (my second starter only made it to 74k). For the remote places I often travel it was simply a risk/reward equation where even though I wasn't having starter issues I treated it like a PM item given the remoteness of travel.

As requested, here is a spreadsheet of parts that I would replace "while you are in there". I've also added the starter rebuild parts as well here for folks. While doing the starter at the same time as the timing belt would be a bit more work, I do agree with Dan that having a starter go out on you in the middle of no where is really going to crimp on the expedition/off roading adventure you are having.

I've always been a strong proponent of timely PM as well as PM in preparation for trips, etc. Take care of the rig, the rig takes care of you.

:)

Anyway, if there are any additions that I forgot about, please let me know and I can add them to the .xls. Also, I did not include things like hardware that you might break along the way depending on where you are wrenching and where the truck has lived (Rust Belt vs. west of the Mississippi). Also, I did not add prices because of the constant, almost monthly price fluctuations that Toyota hands down to the dealers. As always, all MUD members receive 25% off list prices from us. We pretty much always stock this stuff in house so it is available to go most of the time.

There are also some slight changes in part numbers between the earlier 2UZ's and some of the last 2UZ's that were produced before the end of 100 series production. I have not noted those here.

Best.

Not positive on this Onur but I think the gas cap seal is apart of the 90k PM too. Thank you for posting the info!

Trying to find the p/n for the water pump o-ring. This is the small o-ring that fits the water bypass pipe into the back side of the water pump. Would fit on your finger.

Didn't see it in the list and trying to source one locally for the weekend re-assembly.

EDIT: Beno's list (.pdf) shows a 96761-24025 'ORING FOR TIMING COVER' but I
EDIT: can't find it at all on TOYODIY.com parts ref.

EDIT:In this post Beno lists 96761-24019 as 'housing o-ring' This one does show
EDIT:up on TOYODIY.com
