Night 2 in the back of the 100. Laying here with the back hatch open looking out on the reservoir at sand hollow state park. Beautiful night clear skies low 60s and probably no more than a half dozen other folks in the park.

Incidentally, is there a way to turn the courtesy lights in the rear doors off when the rear hatch is open? Would be nice to keep the hatch open sleeping tonight but don't want to drain the battery.

Drove through some nice scenery in Arizona today on the way into St George. After my false alarm this morning with the AC button, a real and true problem exposed itself a few miles outside if San Diego : the CD player doesn't work!! Luckily the tape deck is alive and well and a quick stop at the Best Buy in St. George and $20 for a rather archaic piece of audio technology later, I now have a tape to iPod adapter.

Here are a few photos from the drive today:

See you in Colorado. It doesn't suck here.....

Yeah I don't know, but doesn't look like a lot of fun. I think I'll probably shorten my stay in Colorado so that I can spend some extended time along the barren stretches of I 70 across the middle of Kansas!

it's on a timer. An obscenely long one, but they eventually go off.

.. : the CD player doesn't work!!
yeah, the lc has an abysmal stereo. Upgrade the whole head unit when you get home.

Awesome post! Congrats on the new rig and have a safe trip! Keep the pics coming!

Yes, timer.... maybe 25 minutes. But if you want to turn the lights off immediately, you can try activating the hatch's latch/locking mechanism with a screwdriver. If the battery is in good condition, I wouldn't worry about it.

FYI, government shutdown has occurred and National Parks are closing down. Not sure how this will impact your travel/lodging plans?

I'm about to enter into Zion national Park. Rt 9 the road that runs through Zion is still open allegedly. I'll wander around today and see if there is still any fun to be had. Otherwise ill drive-through Zion and head up to scenic byway 12 with perhaps a stop at Escalante and Burr Trail. Here are a few pictures from Sandhollow from this morning. Not the worst campsite ever… image-3139133821.webp image-888089344.webp After calculating for the bigger tire size, looks like I got about 16.9 miles per gallon running from Vegas into Utah!

Just a quick check in, trip is going awesome so far!

Utah is beautiful! Got to do a decent bit of trail riding and hiking the last two days.

Should get into Telluride tonight, then have two days to explore that area before heading up towards Denver on Sunday and to slee on Monday.

Those of you with weak stomachs and an affinity for the stock runningboards, please look away from the computer screen!

Have a good trip - and when you get home upgrade not only the h/u but the entire system. The whole thing is abysmal (IMO).

A few more inches of snow here overnight. Planning to do last dollar road and see the Dallas divide today. Will hit owl creek on the way out tomorrow. Any other suggestions for short hikes or things to see?

Here are a few more photos from the past few days:

It looks to be a bit of a cruiser shortage here in Telluride!

great trip ! keep the pic coming ..

It looks to be a bit of a cruiser shortage here in Telluride!

I didn't see another built 100 all week. A few really nice 80s, a super built 200, and plenty 60s and 40s. The 4th Annual 100s in the Hills should remedy that. Only 10 months away!

I did the trail up to the powerplant/house at Bridal veil Falls, did the trail to Tomboy and then last dollar. Absolutely beautiful!

These are all nothing any stock 4wd vehicle couldn't handle but fun nonetheless. I got to cut the first tracks through the snow on bridal and tomboy.

Halfway to Tomboy:

Old mining town of tomboy, two dollar lunch, two million dollar view!

And the first part of Last Dollar just north of telluride:
