Is Telluride/Ouray worth it? In short, it will take your breath away, your eyes will be the size of dinner plates, your memory card in your camera will melt...you will never want to leave. So, yes, worth every second. Your already out there! Go see it!

Definitely going to Ouray/Telluride! Already have the GPX maps downloaded from some of the 100s in the hills runs.

Was asking if scenic byway 12 was worth the added few hours traveling from Zion to Telluride. I could take rt12 and stop at Goblin State Park, which looks super cool. This route would then take my by Moab....which might be another area that is difficult to just drive through without stopping for a few days!

If you take Scenic byway 12, I'll have to send you my Bur trail gpx and secret amazing campsite!

Step one: fly across the country and buy a Land Cruiser. Complete

Step two: buy a bunch of gear / provisions / crap and pull over on the side of the road to organize it. Complete!!!

Step three: Let the mods begin. Ease into it at first. :)

Also got to meet up with SanDiegocruiser tonight and check out his awesome truck. Many thanks for his hospitality and help with maps and the quick jumper wire to have full-time power to the accessory ports.

One of the best years and paint colors!

This is probably a dumb question, but it's coming for me so you might want to get used to it !

AC button on the center console should toggle back-and-forth between heat and AC, and the light should go on and off, correct?

My light is illuminated all the time, the AC seems to work just fine, the heat works when you set it to auto and the temp control up to 85. So I'm guessing maybe something is overriding the button when it auto mode and my button isn't working properly?

75 and sunny here in San Diego today, but it'll be down below freezing when i get to Colorado in a few days.

Definitely blowing hot air with this configuration here although the AC light is still on which seems strange to me.

That's normal. In auto mode the ac is always on. Does it blow cold when you set the temp to 65?

Yes it blows cold when I set the temp to 65.

So does the AC button not really do anything?

Yeah, it, uh, makes the air cold  auto mode need it on all the time. You can switch off of auto, and then the AC button works like you think it should.

You have thermal control with the temperature knob. You have humidity control with the AC button (on/off).

Two totally different things. The automatic climate control is designed so you set the temp you want with the left-most knob. You put the other two on AUTO if you want the CC to control to that setpoint based on the parameters in the system. If you want to override that system, then you have the option of adjusting where you want the air to blow out (middle knob) and how much air you want (right-most knob). You can also control (override the auto feature) by selecting either fresh or recirculated air, and you can manually control if the AC compressor will cycle on or not (but it's based on the setpoint temperature as to whether it comes on or not).

Pressing the left-most bottom button is for defrost of the REAR glass via the thermoelectric strip heaters inside the glass. Pressing the REAR button activates the Rear HVAC controls that are located above the driver rear headrest on the ceiling. Pressing the right-most lower button activated the outside mirror defrost feature.

Sounds like I have a problem with the AC button. With the two right side dials in manual mode, pushing the AC button doesn't do anything. The light stays lit regardless.

The button doesn't have two different positions. Press it light stays lit. Press it again light is still lit!

Any advice?

Thanks!

It's in Arizona mode! sounds like you need to do some troubleshooting. Sticky switch maybe? Can you confirm the compressor is always on? Idle change when button pressed in manual mode? Cold air from vents? Anyway, I'd worry about it when you get home...

Compressor is always on. Heat works in auto mode.

Just don't want something to happen and not have any heat in the middle of CO. Pretty cold there!

Best day ever! Just left San Diego trux, they were able to take the console apart quickly and get the button working again.

G ot an oil change, a new air filter, new wiper blades and hopefully will be all set for the next 3500 miles!

Next stop: Hurricane, Utah.

Good deal. Yeah, those push-button switches can get sticky and not release after being engaged. Glad you got it figured out.

Safe travels, man!!

Lunch stop!
