paint dries in an hour......folks that straight tech talk right there.:hhmm:

Oh sorry. I know your just litterally dumping techy stuff in a thread on spray painting wheels. Oh lord... we have a young moderator growingup

You should wash the rim after each sand, or strip. It'll let you know were you sit with the proccess and how clean the wheels are

Those are actually Fiero kit cars, really fast and inexpensive.

The wheels look great. Now the hubs and calipers need some black paint.

thanks TM for cleaning it up a bit.

seems like the final finish pictures were deleted. Ill post up another round.

anthonycds gave me this link earlier (thanks alot) so everybody can see the paint I used.

Looks very nice! Thanks for sharing.

You mentioned getting new tires. Are you concerned about how the wheel/paint will look when the weights are taken off and new one's put on durring balancing?

Get rid of those wheel locks, 9 times out of 10 those things will bite you in the ass.

you think autozone would carry them?

ill probably be due for a tire change late next year. I have 75-80% tread left on my LTX's. when that day comes around i will have them all powdercoated, and weights moved to inside of the wheel. I sanded them down, and tried to make them look not so nasty with the claw marks a chunks where they hammered it on tight.

Whered ya get the superstrip? Stuff sounds pretty powerful... wear anything for protection??

Thanks and the wheels look great! thinking about doing my wheels tomorrow.

Oh, how long did it take you to sand the wheels. Just so i know what im in for before hand.

Thanks again.

OK number one your wheels look great, very aggressive looking. And number two is that your "garage"? Are those your Lambos?

I got the superstrip at Lowes, im sure they would have it at home depot, Ace hardware and those stores. I wore chemical resistant rubber gloves. I would advise wearing a long sleeve. I got some spray from the wire brush and it burned my skin.

Sanding took me about 45 minutes to around an hour. I had 100 grit sanding blocks(they look like kitchen sponges). or untill all the paint is gone. it all depends on the stripper/ tools you used. Its definatley a 2 day project. make sure you have a wire brush like I showed in the pictures. other wise you wont be able to sand or grind the paint off after you strip it (i tried and no, it would of taken days hand sanding the paint off).

tip on prep: again.... better buy a plug in drill. my battery powered black & decker ran out of power every 15 minutes + 2 hour charging time= 3+ hours a wheel until i got the plug in black & decker. you need something with constant power for hours.

1: Lamborghini of Atlanta lended me a lift saturday (techs are out)
2: heh i wish it was my garage

I would say its more of a car hanger haha

Nice job, looks clean.

A quick thought for anyone else planning on doing this... take the weights off prior, then re-balance when it's done. This will leave the entire rim black when re-balancing is needed, and if you really dislike the color of the exterior weights (I don't know of any in black) they do have the weights that attach to the inside of the rim. Although I have had much better luck with using standard weights on my vehicles.
