Yeah its in front of it. Hooked up to nothing. Wonder what I could do with a switch that was in the blower 🤔
 
In the Signal Corps on the Pulse Code Modulation units the manufacture installed a captured screw - adjustment hooked to nothing unlike all the other ones in the area that actually did something. We all knew it as the Lieutenant hole. Commo is down, and you are desperately trying to get it back up. The new 2ndLt wants to help, so you pull the unit out of the case, give him a PCM screwdriver and tell him to carefully adjust the meter to center hairline. After a few minutes when he says he can't get it to work, you tell them its really sensitive and he need to adjust slowly and carefully. Sometime later when he again complains, you take the screwdriver away, stick it in the hole right above and adjust for hairline - at this point they decide their leadership skills are needed elsewhere and they leave you in peace so you can actually sort out the problem.

Haha. Sounds like me learning to lay the guns. Luckily I had an amazing 1SG that took me out one afternoon and drilled me to death on it. I’ll never forget it… mostly because my battery commander came out and yelled at me for wearing a patrol cap lol.
 
Trying to work on two birds with probably about 15 stones. First, my wife wants a new dashpad but I’m leaning towards something like the coffeys dash box. Anyways I also have the issue where my hard doors don’t line up with the windshield. Wondering if it could be these tube that are siliconed in. Anyone have a length on them?

I was on my way to pick up my son from school when I noticed that my amp meter was going negative with the turn signal on. Didn’t think too much of it but then about a mile later I noticed smoke coming from the wiring harness that goes through the windshield. Guessing I just crimped the wires together when I was removing the dash. Any other thoughts? Guess my plan will be to build a new harness for the wipers now.

Yes new wires are needed IMHO. I'm surprised Mr. Fuse let it get that far. I'd be looking at the return to home circuit in your wiper. More inline fuses might be a good plan. I bought a bunch of waterproof bladed fuse holders on ebay in 10ga and just stick in the lower rated fuses to protect my circuits.
 
Yes new wires are needed IMHO. I'm surprised Mr. Fuse let it get that far. I'd be looking at the return to home circuit in your wiper. More inline fuses might be a good plan. I bought a bunch of waterproof bladed fuse holders on ebay in 10ga and just stick in the lower rated fuses to protect my circuits.
Yeah that was the next thing I looked at... PO put in a larger fuse, put a 20A in and now checking the rest.
 
Fixed the shorted out wiring harness for the wiper motor. PO had used a trailer harness at some point in the past. I ended up doing the same. Maybe the winter I’ll see if Coolerman has one and I can rewire it. But the goal is driving so it’s ready for fall!

Finally got around to putting the rear leaf springs on. It sat around for a few months but finally my wife said she wanted to take it for ice cream so I got to work and got it back on the road. Also installed the new dashpad that had been sitting around.

Wanted to mention these jack stands as well. They were super useful installing the rear leaf springs. If anyone in northern Ohio ever needs a set hit me up and you can borrow them.

Although I still plan on driving it till the salt flies its time to start listing out plans for this winter so I can hold myself accountable to them.
First up another new exhaust manifold gasket. I must not have done a great job installing the one from two years ago and it definitely has a leak by the first cylinder.
While the fender is off for that I am going to pull the power steering box and look at fixing the leak that has been there since I acquired this.
While it runs decent I am going to try and get it running a little smoother. First thing I am going to try is resetting the distributor. I feel like I might be off by a tooth. With the distributor turned fully counter clockwise its running rough. Any
more clockwise turn and it bogs down.
I have been having occasional starting issues so a new gear reduction starter has already been ordered from my local dealer.

Then its time for some fun stuff. I want to take this on a few of the trail runs. Don't want to turn it into a rock crawling buggy or anything just a little more capable. I am hoping I can score a deal on a Detroit locker and get that installed. I don't think I want to go spring over axel but I am thinking about trying to fit 35" tires. With that not sure the stock rear tire carrier will work anymore so might do a tire swing from 4plus.
