Thanks, Charles. The analogy and impressions you convey are much appreciated.
So...some more resolutions.
First off, I've come to the conclusion that ANY sort of paint going onto the Phantom must NEVER come out of anything other than a dollar-per-can aerosol.

The pleasure of getting down and dirty with paint, an instrument cluster, a gauge panel, and the heater / AC, is just too much to deprive one's self of!
In line with the Killer Whale / Rockhopper Penguin theme, the innards of the Phantom got a bit of a spray job. As did the NOS windscreen stops and latches. As did the lift jack mounted on the front bumper.
Another investment was getting a new bezel for the front of the truck. This is a locally fabbed beauty in gleaming new sheet metal, to replace the dented/dinged old one on the car. I'm still undecided about whether to go the matte black or polar white route with the bezel. I MAY end up painting the new one white, for the simple reason that the old one's black, and when you have the liberty of choices, it's always good to ensure you have a couple of options to choose between.
Pictures!
