engine removed and disposed of today. glad its gone, i can finally pick up my new engine. i don't have room in the garage for both.

The PO used some sort of undercoat on the firewall and fenders. going to be a pain stripping it all but should be little rust.

also removed the windshield. not a fun job. found more rust (big surprise :p) id like to replace the dash pad mount , i know some guys remove them for a box install so maybe ill post a want add. If you have one PM me.

Great thanks for that twoyotas will make fabing up the floor a lot easier to do with measurements :)

no problem.

you've got your work cut out for you! But it looks like the project is in capable hands.

Huzzah for the salvation of another 40

I've never even seen an fj40 for $400, sweet job, keep these baby's on the road!

well got the engine mounts fabricated today, there not 100% burned in place yet but enough to hold her in place.

there made of 3/16" x 4" plate. just cardboard cut outs then transferred them to the steel. made a sister frame plate (8" long) to spread the load.

looking for a trany cross member to finalize the mounting install. if i cant find one ill make one up.

The sharp eyes in the bunch might notice that the drivers side rubber mount isn't right. I only have one proper mount for the bj , so i used a fj rubber puck and a few washers to hold the spot for the mount work.

Plans are to assemble the under the hood equipment , like battery tray, throttle cables , air cleaner ect. Then tear it all down again and finish the paint and body work.

Looking at ordering a suspension kit this week. Looking at a 2.5" kit by Hellcreek. they tell me that the 2.5" kits are back ordered for 4-5 weeks.

I like the look of the 4" kit but worry about the overall height of the fj with 33" tires when im done. Dont know if it will fit in the garage when im done.

can anyone take a measurement of there fj with 33"'s and 4" kit for me ?

Im just east of Toronto. The project is slow going between work and money/life

Should have some progress pictures soon.

I measurement is 11 7/8. J is 3 1/4. K is 4 1/8. Measured from my '75.

Thanks Nikp if i posted pictures of how much of my bed is missing and how "floppy" it is right now, it would frighten too many people :)

1000$ with a 4 speed and transfer case. i sold the 4 speed for 250$ and found a h55 for 300$

anyone help me out with the wiring harness. im going threw and removing the radio/emissions gear and relocating the starter wires for my 3b conversion.

anyone know what these two are for? the big one was real close to the emission computer if that helps.
