So after (2) days of testing and lots of little manipulations I'm super happy. No senor lights are on and everything is working as intended. Before I offend anyone with my bargain basement build understand that my spirit wants to participate and my budget says "Not so quick". R2.8 running impossibly well with incredible power. I will drive it for a bit and then send the ECM in for the TQ update, as of now it runs like fire. The NV4500 and the 33.5" tires are really nice but the RPMs are a bit higher than expected, not alarmingly so but certainly close to 100 higher than table math. 3rd to 4th has a larger spread than I would like but still quite streetable. No rattles or squeaks other than the 40 series dash box which is a simple fix. AC is ice cold. I ran all the cables for a simple infinity bluetooth controller, amp and pair of speakers behind the seats. There is nothing fancy about this build and I hope it's equally reliable???? Apparently there is a communicator from Dakota Digital for the 800 RPM diesel? The lowest calibration still comes in at 1200 on the cluster. I will hook up the tunes this morning and log more miles, so far so good.

I assume you fabricated the spare tire holders?

Nice looking truck. I occasionally see dual spares over here but they are always side by side on the cab front. Nice work.

The are 33.5" which won't fit side by side. I also wanted as much of the bed available for carrying items that may be long. Fo me, the spares in fron side by side blocks the view and shortens the effective length of the bed by almost a foot. I do love most things built for dedicated overland travel.

"you all" is from Alabama. I'm just living in Riyadh at the moment. I thought the issue might have been the tire size as well.

Very sharp.

I have no issues with my DD box reading properly. I do have the diesel version which takes the signal from the alternator or flywheel. I have used both locations on my 80.
Would like to see how you did your shifters for the NV4500 and HF2A as thats the combo I'm running in my 75 build.

@LeRoy Cordova .... “Before I offend anyone with my bargain basement build understand that my spirit wants to participate and my budget says "Not so quick".

Your build only needs to “please” one person and that’s the person spending the money. 😊

Speaking from experience, there is nothing ‘budget’ about building a 79 in the US!

Can’t wait to see more pics of your build.

Well then I'll take that as a compliment. I'm generously under $40, probably $35/36?

Would love to see photos of the engine bay with the 2.8 installed. 😊

What about seats? What are you running there?

The 79 series seats weren't available so I got my hands on a pair of 76 series and modified the risers. Havent taken any pictures since putting her on the road but I will. I hear the Scheelman seats are the bees knees so when she gets to 2000 miles I will get a pair.
