That’s pretty slick honestly. I like it. I might have a pair of Scheelmanns that match that interior.

I like em simple. I didn't even install a radio, a bluetooth controller, an amp and a pair of speakers. Embarrassingly simple. Yeah man, I'll take those seats if you are not going to use them. Thanks brother.

Awesome. More pics. LOTS more.

I like the simplicity of the 40 dash. It looks like you fit it well in there. Nice work.

Love it. Any updates?

Updates???? Why yes there are!!!! This build now has just over 10,000 miles and it has done very well with no surprises. The items that I have had to alter are as follows; Higher CFM fan, double DIN with GPS and backup camera. I went ahead and upgraded the front axle shafts and installed Harrop lockers front and rear. What else? Oil changes and that's about it. The Scheelman seat is a thing of wonder to say the least, I have the passenger seat but have enjoyed the oversized OEM passenger/middle seat so far. I did install an Escape Gear seat cover over the passenger/middle seat. There are far more impressive builds than this one but this one took about 5.5 mos. and has been on the road since. The R2.8 will get 26 MPG if I take back roads at 55 and 23 MPG if I am on the interstate at 65 MPH, I'm satisfied. The Vintage Air freezes me out of the tiny cabin. The doors seal as a new vehicle and the experience is quiet and peaceful. I am having paint correction and double ceramic completed this week and I have decided to have the wheels and saddle boxes finished in black while I'm at it. Completed sticker remains under $40K.

As much as I enjoy my homebrew camp trailer and all of the silence, standing height, memory foam mattress, flatscreen, shower, full kitchen etc.; I have decided to slim my system a bit. I have made the decision to install an AluCab canopy. The unaltered bed is over 7' and I believe I will be able to comfortably sleep and transport the necessary gear for self sustained exploration???? Did I do it correctly? We shall see. I also made the decision this year to further trim my needs to the point of overland travel via KTM 1290 on which I completed 1800 miles on a single trip. This truck has become my daily driver and I couldn't be happier.

I’m kind of thinking something like this on my 79 series. I have been thinking of a half canopy setup like you see on Tacoma’s. Sit the RTT right on top of that.

The black rims look great.

Hello,

You should check @coldtaco 's build.

So you’re thinking something along these lines?

Is it fabricated specifically for the 79 Series factory bed?
Correct. Coming from South Africa where the single cab 79s are common. I didn’t want to manipulate the bed so the decision was made to stretch the 80 chassis.
