Bud built or Slee. Which is better with a function of a step, also?

I have Slee, they are great. Been to the Budbuilt shop, they are also great.

Bud Built stick out a good ways for a step.

Can't go wrong either way. I have Slees and they're very practical for daily use. On the other hand, you can't find a bad word about Buds

In my opinion, you're going to get a great product from either Bud or Christo.

I'd probably let proximity, availabilty/lead time drive a decision if it was me.

@Madtiger Any exposed metal will corrode in the right conditions, that's not a Budbuilt problem per se. If one has concerns with Budbuilt finishes and corrosion, it is easy to buy them bare metal and have them finished locally with whomever one prefers, in whatever finish makes the most sense.

I had my first set of Budbuilt step sliders ('13 200) epoxy primed and painted with PPG paint by a local body shop. I got the second set ('16 200) from Budbuilt already powdercoated. I prefer the ones that are already powdercoated.

Any sliders that are used as real sliders are going to need to be maintained and touched up. I have massive gouges in my current set that are rusting that I need to look after once the weather gets better. It's just a cost of doing business when you scrape a pig like the 200 over ledges and large rocks.

Which were addressed directly by them due to a run of bad PC.
Which is probably true?? But i am just stating what happened to a several BB owners here. Correct me if i am wrong, but that has not haopened with other vendors, such as Slee or MetalTech.

In the cases mentioned on this forum, the rusting was very much premature and corrosion was thru out frame, not just one or two impact spots.

Touching up is fine…but when you have to take off the sliders themselves and ship it back to vendor…or have to take off and exchange with another one…that is royal PIA!

My sliders will NEVER come off my LC for any reason. It is there for life of vehicle. Took 4-6 hours if i remember to put it on at my friend’s shop. And my sliders are fairly simple to put on compared to some others here.

I am suggesting that corrosion would be a preparation and finish issue, not an underlying issue with the product.

If that is true, and the prep/finish was done by Budbuilt or a subcontractor, then there is a way to avoid that concern by ordering bare metal parts and having them prepped and finished locally.

Bud uses high quality US made steel and their fabrication is very high quality.

I have put their products on both of the 200s I've owned and would do it again with any future LC.

I've only seen Slee sliders on other people's vehicles, but they appeared to be well made and sturdily attached. Slee's reputation is also impeccable. If I lived out west, or Slee sliders were available and Budbuilt were not, I personally wouldn't hesitate to put a set of Slee sliders on my vehicle.

I've had my SLEE sliders on for nearly two years . Powder coating is as new the day SLEE installed them. Comfortable for stepping up.or off, even with size 12 boots.
Many people think they are factory sliders until they see the SLEE logos. I had SLEE add the puddle lights which has turned out to be a great addition to an already well designed and fabricated slider.

When you get into the quality level of Slee and Budbilt, it comes down to personal preference. I can make an argument why Toyo are the best tires and others could make an argument on BFG or other tires and we would all be right, personal preference should be the decider once you get to a certain level

I have had Slee on 7 vehicles (Mine and my daughters) and never regretted with no issues. I know people who are happy with Budbilt. I live close by Slee and so it is easy for me to drive over there and buy their product and have them install it. I have also known Slee for 18 years and his products and customer service have garnered my Loyalty. I am sure those that live near Budbuilt feel the same way

I fully expected this thread to turn into a pissing match. I am surprised and delighted that it has not. Well done 200 - 570 posters, the forum has matured.

There are several more vendors who have comparable products. Pretty much all of the sliders except for the non step ‘rock rails’ function well as a step.

I have Slee and wish I bought Budbuilt. I got kissed by an idiot driving in a construction zone and she scratched paint on my door and passengers as our two cars rubbed friction at 40mph. Wouldn't have happened with budbuilt as they stick out a tad further.

I had the beefy non kickout Buds on my Tundra, and now have the kickouts on my 200. I prefer the kickout design, and as an added bonus, the extra area makes it very easy for my small kids to get in the rig, and makes roof rack access easy.

With a model like the 200 that doesn't have a ton of sales, we are lucky to have companies like Slee and Bud putting out excellent product.

On my second set of Bud skids, and they are top notch as well.

I've got the BB sliders with diamond fill plate, no kicker and powder coated by BB (or the shop they use).

One word...STOUT.

They work fantastic as steps and door protection and I'm positive would hold up with any other brand off road. Difficulty of install was 7/10 but I'm glad I did it myself and am very happy with my purchase and the way they turned out.
