I was just thinking about this the other day. I'm interested. Is this a large capacity sub tank or a replacement for the primary? Also, any idea what the cost would be. (edited after visiting the manufacturer's site)

44ga in place of the factory subtank? That's got to hang down super low? Any physical measurements on it?

i like the idea of a sub tank where the spare tire carrior used to be. i think i saw a guy on here that used a TrooperII tank he picked from a yard. with good volume, and fit, and yes super cheap

i'm in. any ideas as to where it would be going to be located? forwards of the rear axle would be nice for weight distribution.

I believe OEM Toyota sub tanks are available, but difficult to source in the US & not cheap.

I have one in mine, doesn't hang down that much, replaces sub tank where the spare wheel used to be, gives me 270-280 litres total

Seajay... what do you have?

I believe OP is talking about a long range single tank that goes where stock tank is, not the subtank. The single bigger tanks do hang down a bit lower than stock. Iirc about 4" but it definitely more exposed to rocks and now without a skid. Here is one pic but on a lift so the driveshaft is drooped. Seems like @Koffer had a good side shot maybe? I cant find at the moment.

I Looked at the long ranger tanks before they quit importing when I was replacing the tank but didnt seem worth the cost and loss of clearance to me. They may have only been 35g too

Their site is a bit confusing on mobile..... it only seems to show the replacement sub tanks 168 L (44g) that specify they require removal of spare. Pics arent clear but sounds like this maybe goes behind the axle after all?!? Maybe the OP can provide a pic or link to help before you spend your money.

Looks like LongRanger tanks no longer offer the increased capacity main tank either.

It definitely looks like 44 gallons in the subtank position. It also says it "utilises the vehicles standard pump and fuel system with no modifications" so I wonder what exactly is going on.

I have the one that replaces the sub tank, goes where the spare wheel used to be. Doesn't hang down that much, but I don't go rock crawling. But I didn't have any problems with clearance doing the Gibb River Road, and up to Mitchel Falls here in Australia. There good for long distance touring, I do Perth to Karratha without refuelling 1600km

the tanks take the place of the factory fitted fuel tank, and as such are a direct bolt in solution for increasing fuel capacity. On average, increased capacity is 40% or more, with some tanks in excess of 100% increased capacity.

Can we get an actual picture of this? Because the link is for a sub tank.

he sending me all the particulars but it in place of standard tank, almost doubles capacity and is made of thicker steel

Is this limited to the 80 series? I would post up in the 100 series and any other models they cover. I know the 100 series guys have posted a few times about sub tanks and extended fuel tanks it would make shipping and the likely hood better if it wasnt just restricted to 80 series I am interested either way depending on cost.

Also interested depending on cost.

Cost and pics, man!

I’ve managed to touch the factory tank skid on rocks, I can only imagine what I would do to this one.

I sold my 4Runner and bought a Land Cruiser to get away from low hanging gas tanks.
