Im already working on a trooper sub tank solution, but would be interested in a main tank replacement depending on cost.

Can you imagine 67ga of fuel onboard? For me that would be 700+ miles between fill ups. Holy crikey.

I’ve managed to touch the factory tank skid on rocks, I can only imagine what I would do to this one.

I sold my 4Runner and bought a Land Cruiser to get away from low hanging gas tanks.
I have a sizable dent in mine. Near the t case too

And a loan to fill up...

Not in North Carolina!

I have LRA tanks (larger main and 24-gallon sub) in my HDJ81 and I love them. I've looked at Brown Davis and Long Ranger and they all seem to have very good quality so there's not a bad choice.

Word around the water cooler is that Brown Davis is working with Cruiser Outfitters right now to bring in a variety of fuel tank options for different models for the US market.

Guys - Brown Davis does not manufacture a replacement MAIN tank for the 80 Series, only SUB. Same with Long Ranger. The only company that does is Long Range Automotive (not to be confused with Long Ranger). Pretty sure it's the same tank Man-A-Fre stocked. I was quoted $500 Aud to ship one from the manufacturer plus duties. So MAF would be the cheaper option.

The email I got from Brown Davis said they do not offer these as the factory mounting points aren't strong enough? Ya know, there are ways to add additional supports if needed. I had a replacement main on the 100 and there is no change in mounting from the 80 and no issues. No noticeable difference between empty and full, on or off road with the weight between the axles. A 1" BL really allowed it to tuck-up above the frame, if that's a concern. Or, put a piece of 3/8" UHMW

Add another 400 lbs off the rear axle where most all other heavy gear is? Hmmmmmm

Can you buy fuel with a second or third mortgage??
Might have to fill at the pump two or three times since some stations limit the amount to $100 per "fill".

Does anyone else remember being able to fill up one the old cars for $17?

I remember gasoline @ <$0.25 per gallon!

I don’t surf rocks. I’d be curious what the main replacement costs and how much more it holds. As well as the sub tank. I have other plans for the sub tank location, I think.
