I'll weigh in... being a bit of a LED geek...

I've tried to run a backup LED bulb - the high output first gen i got did not fit. Specifically there wasn't enough taper to the bulb to allow it to seat and lock in.

So my main concern with the one you pointed out (and i'm a HUGE fan of cree chips)
1156.jpg

not much of a "waist" and I bet it won't seat correctly...

Compared with the 2nd (or 3rd) gen of the ones i originally used:

the only output i see is "5W" on the JLC site. So potentially 5W vs 4W for hte ones i showed.

I'm all about LED's - see if you can find one with specs and measurements to make sure they will fit.

gl!

Hijack....sort of
I love my Cree powered flashlight.

I hope these are as bright.

The fit is perfect !!
I took pics just now and will post tomorrow morning .

Sl33py I too had the same luck with other bulbs not seating properly and or not locking the pins like they supposed to, not the case here!!
These fit like oem one's do, n light up great. The light pattern is great around 120°

What exactly are Cree chips?

Looks impressive.

I'm sold! I want some.

How hot do they get? I wouldn't want them melting the lens.

As I said on the first post.. I found them on the 80's forum..
Here is the link to that thread.

I read they dont get hot at all.. but I have no personal experience as I just got mine.

There is also a discount code: VIP10OFF

Stevo their SKU NUMBER is: LED_CREE_SKU1156

Jose this guys are based out of San Gabriel.... and have a store front.
I did not know when I order mine.

Ok, Thanks a lot. I wasn't sure if that was the model or part number. I didn't see anything on the site saying they would fit the fj60, thus the question.

that is the light emitting diode itself - made by Cree. They make AWESOME chips/LEDs. I have some super small cr123 LED flashlights that do 200+ lumens that are the latest gen of Cree. Good stuff.

Interesting. I'll have to give 'em a try myself. I still haven't done up the new marker lights I ordered. Woulda been a helluva lot easier if the circuit wasn't switched ground

Just poured thru the 80 thread - anyone have any issues with this impacting the stock wiring?

Interested but not wanting to risk screwing up my stock wiring...

Hey Spook, the marker and tail lights are not switched ground. Rotating the light switch one click turns on the TAILLIGHT RELAY which provides power to the 15 amp TAIL fuse. All the marker lights and the tail lights are connected to the TAIL fuse. The instrument panel lights are also connected to the TAIL fuse with the RHEOSTAT between the other side of the instrument panel lights and ground. That is shall we say "unique." But the tail and marker lights are switched hot--one of the few normal light circuits on these rigs.

LEDs use far less current than incandescent lamps. So much so, that for turn signal applications, they don't draw enough current for your stock turn signal flasher to work. You won't have this issue with backup lights. LEDs in your backup light sockets will equate to less stress on the wires and far less heat generated by the LED lamps. Other than the price, there are no downsides.

awesome! I'm in also. thanks for sharing. Spendy for a light bulb set even with the discount. ouch. I'll have to check the couch cushions for some more coin. I'm defiantly ordering a pair.

Gracias!

For those that have ordered, it's quantity (1) correct, as they are sold in pairs?

Yes, qty:1 is one pair. Just got them installed in my 80, they are sweet!
