Brighter reverse lights.....

I almost made that same mistake. Quantity 1.

I guess that I cheated on my Mini and plan to again on the 60. Since I have a heavy current 12 VDC source at the rear I put in a relay that is driven by the reverse light circuit and that drives a junkyard sourced clear fog light. I have both the 12 VDC source on the 60, many relays, and another JY clear fog light. Just haven't yet gotten them mounted on the 60.

just got mine and I'm a little bummed out that they wont go deep enough into the socket to engage. The last heat sink ring wont allow it. did any of you have this problem?? can you take that last ring down??

I think I saw earlier to spin it 180 and see if it fits that way.

cool

Cool. I'll try it again in the AM and on the other 60. Fingers Crossed. though I don't see what dif. spinning it 180 will accomplish but I hope it works!!

Any one try these in a 40?

I just bought some and I was gonna try them on my FJ55. I don't know about the reverse lights, but I think some of the lights have offset heat sink thingies, so that one is higher than the other.

I just bought a set as well and have the same problem as cosmo. 0 or 180 makes no difference. Looks like the first heat sink fin will have be ground off to make it fit. Anyone have experience with this?

I'd rather grind down the lip of the socket slightly than lose a fin on the heatsink. Any bit of cooling capacity lost could shorten the life. Might only be a miniscule amount, but still...

the company did say they'd give a refund so I'd do that before grinding off the heat ring. I wonder if there is a batch out of spec. Bummer!

Woah...sorry to hear they did not fit....hope it is one bad batch only..you might want to try to exchange n see if that works..

Lame - that was what i was worried about.

Does anyone know if any other bulbs work for any of the other lights on a 60? I'd like to switch to LED's at some point.

There are a ton of LED's out there. I have a decent thread w/ multiple options. Basically interior, gauge, and exterior lights besides blinkers and headlights on my truck are all LED. Blinkers because i don't want to mess with a different controller, or an in-line resistor so they blink correctly. I like that my blinkers speed up when i need to swap a bulb. Easy to spot, easy to fix. Other lights are all LED.

I wouldn't grind them to fit. get a refund and look at the superbrightleds.com alternative - slightly dimmer 4w vs 5w, but still much brighter than stock. They are tapered more like a regular bulb and will definitely fit. Plus they have measurements to look at and ensure you know they fit before buying. very handy.

GL!

Just a FYI - the 1156 style bulbs from JLC didn't fit in my 60 (flipped them 180, etc.). Contacted them via email (as their phone # rings and then just dumps you out with no voicemail) to request a return.

The 921 style did fit in my '01 Tacoma though, nice fit, look great.

Ended up sourcing a set of 1156 style from superbrightled, so we'll see how they look and fit when I get them...

Dang... Im sorry to hear these light are not working for yah guys....
I cant help to feel at fault......
Hopefully someone else will chime in and say "THEY DID FIT" !!!

So it can take the guilt away..somewhat...

Hey, I don't hold you or anyone else accountable, buying stuff off the internet, it happens!

Shipping will be minimal to send them back, so I'm not sweating it...

Well, if they're made in China, it wouldn't be a surprise in regards to the variances in manufacturing.

Luck of the draw...

No guilt. They fit just fine now!

Ditto the Don't sweat it comment. Headed out to the shop for some Bulb Mods. Not worth shipping back but I won't be buying any more. If I were the vender I would have sent another pair out right away instead of "you send back and we'll send you another pair" but that's me and I'm big on customer service. Mods are always a gamble. Some are great and others not so much and some just need some tweaking it's part of the process right. Cheers
