Noticed this last night....My dash lights are flashing. Very random but consistent. Doesn't impact my headlights or stereo. It seems like this happened years ago when I started having problems with my starter and had to replace it, but my headlights don't dim while it's happening. Was a long drive and haf no other problems and no changes in voltage according to what the dash reads....thoughts?

I would check to see if the alternator is charging at a consistent level.

Work the rheostat (dimmer) back and forth a few times. See if anything changes. I feel like I’ve heard of those failing. Considering the power for the dash lights go through it, that would be something to check.

All the dash lights ground together in wimpy inadequate plastic covered buss thingy behind the instrument panel. That thing then runs a larger wire to a ring terminal bolted to the left A-pillar tucked up high.
Check them out.

I’ve seen people bring that up before. Has anyone installed a better ground buddy thing ??

I ran into dash light mayhem & I cleaned up the grounding thing and tightened the A-pillar bolt - and the problem went away

x2 on the rheostat, especially since you say you have no other electrical issues

To put a bow on this my rheostat was

turned all the way down for some reason. Turned it back up and all is well. I did still have this shiny new Denso alternator and parts to go back to OEM and I did.

Crappy alt that had been installed
