im getting ready to install a 76 disc front axle in my 64 40. i know i need an adapter for the booster. from what i can gather not just any booster, master will fit with the orig f motor. so can anyone tell me what master, booster combo i can use? also, where can i run vacume line from booster to on orig f motor.

You need to measure in front of the mounting area, (depth), to see what you have to work with. I just went through something similar with my 70 putting a 78 disk axle in. I have a complete 2f in it from 79. Space is limited with the stock manifold and carb. Something like 10 inches. I have not figured out what Booster Master combo to use yet.
I ended up getting the tandem kit from Man-A-fre.Wilwood master and adapter. It's-un boosted but now I have dual circuit. Compared to My disked converted 74 with booster and my 74 with booster and drums it has alot harder pedal. Compared to my the old 70, with single master and drums properly adjusted, its about the same. Maybe a liitle better. Safer with the dual circuit.
I can't help you with the vaccum for the booster. Jeff

thanks for the reply. i was looking at the same dual circuit set up from man a fre. hate to go through all this work and expense just to have the same results as with my orig drums though.

The booster and master from a geo metro is pretty small. I measured mine and scoped it out and with an adapter it would fit but was to close to the carb for comfort, so I ended up cutting the rib on the firewall.

Here it was if I used an adapter, it actually would stick further out with an adapter, if the engine twisted a little under torque I felt it could hit the master. The geo metro has an outlet on the top and side for the front brakes so I could have had the line come out the top, but it was still to close for my comfort level.

I ended up cutting the firewall rib for comfort level, I wish I had done it while I had the body off, someone had recommended doing it right after I painted it, but no plans at that time to do disc fronts.

My biggest problem was I had to drill new holes through the firewall and I hit the support on the backside for the steering/brake brackets, and as you know on these older ones it is welded in and not removable. Wish I had a plasma cutter, but after a lot of work I got it bolted in. That steel behind the firewall is so thick and solid not sure that the rib on the other side does. If I had just rotated it a little or maybe made a real short adapter to convert the bolt pattern life would have been easier.

I have driven it around the block a few times without the vacuum and brakes worked real good, have 1977 axles all the way around, 1962 fj40, 1971 engine and drivetrain. I will hook up the vacuum but still have a lot of work to do. Was able to adjust and use the existing push rod, in the end worked out well.

i used 86 4 runner stuff and it worked out fine .i also drilled out the spot welds notched and moved the firewall support top half.that was years ago and the toyota stuff still works fine.
