My wife’s family all live in the People’s Republic of Vermont which is a very communistic-no I mean socialist-no I mean progressive state so they always ask me to buy their liquor in the tax free Live Free or Die state of NH. Anyway, whenever I stop by for them, I buy for me. Bought BT tonight, but I nearly bought that White Walker. The fact that the bottle said to serve it ice cold made me pause. I’d be curious to know your thoughts.

We didn't get to it... couple people canceled so him and I drank the Suntori. He still has it though so i'll let you know when I try it.

One can induce a state of ketosis simply by working out in a fasting state (as soon as you wake). It will continue throughout the day and there’s no need to do extravagant diet gyrations.

Yea, well with my diet the fasting and activity is as important as the carb intake. The challenge is that exercise alone will not do it - unless you minimize carbs.

I think you would agree that you STILL have to keep your carb intake in the PM to low enough levels - 1 Carb = 4 calories, so if you ran two miles in the AM and burnt 200 calories, you could eat an additional 50g of carbs.

The problem is that fatties are eating like 400+ carbs a day in "normal" diets.

So, I agree if you fast, exercise (2 mile run) and then eat <100g of carbs a day, then you are fine. That is like a sandwich for lunch and healthy veggies at night and maybe a serving or two of another carb.

If I hadn't just spent close to $500 at the distillery this past weekend, I'd take a bottle, but I'll hold off for now.

Nope, the one that is now $125 (in the gift shop at the distillery) per bottle is their 13 year old Single Barrel Old Scout. The one jtoobe is displaying is a private barrel select of their American Whiskey at 107 proof.

The regular Old Scout Single Barrel is a sourced rye bourbon from MGP and it's the bourbon that put Smooth Ambler on the map. It's really good stuff, but they're running pretty low on the original batch of barrels that they purchased and they're now 13 years old, hence the high price tag. They just recently sourced some more barrels of the same stuff, but at 5 years old it's basically the same stuff that Smooth Ambler started out with. So.....the pipeline has been refilled.

The American Whiskey is a blend of some sourced Tennessee Whiskey and some of the sourced MGP bourbon that is then aged a little bit in some rejuvenated bourbon barrels.

They'll always sell some sourced Old Scout, but they're also waiting for the wheated bourbon that they distilled in-house to be ready for mass release. It's not quite ready yet. They've released it in small batches of limited bottlings, but the general opinion is that it needs more time in the barrel before it's really ready to go.

Update: also saw this in our local Total Wine with their logo on the label....I was pleasantly surprised to find this on the “only allowed to buy one from top 3 shelves” at our total wine. Saw write up in recent Garden & Gun. Pricey at $94 but I splurged....am sipping on some neat now. First reaction was it needs to age more and I looked at bottle and it’s only 2 years, for some reason I can distinguish newness. It finishes well but I honestly would be happier with 4 1.75 l bottles of AAA!!!

They seem pretty "spicy" if that is the right word. I feel like a Bud Light drinker attempting a dank triple IPA for the first time.

Ok tried it... not a huge flavor profile for a scotch very mellow but still very smooth and drinkable. More bitter than sweet, a good thing, not very smokey. I've never been a huge JW fan, except their blue, but this one is good... price is good and is a great whisky to pass around the camp fire after chilling.

I'd say give it a whirl at $30

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is one of my favorites, but it’s a real bruiser, especially neat. I usually drink it over a large cube. It’s got huge flavor though, so if you can handle slow-sipping it neat, it’s awesome. The nose (smell) is pretty incredible, to me.

Four Roses SB is another favorite, but it can be spicy. If it’s the standard Single Barrel and not a private selection / Barrel Proof, then it’s their “high rye” recipe, which will give it a little more spice/flavor. They have 10 “recipes”. There are 2 mashbills, a high rye and a low rye, and 5 different yeast strains. The standard Single Barrel is their “OBSV” recipe, I believe.

So full of flavor it's not fair. First time with a bottle of Lismore. Great xmas present from the dad unit.
