Bourbon. What are you drinking right now?

I should also note that one of my favorite single malts out there comes from Wales. I shared a bottle with myself, Andrea, Allen, Ramon, Greg, Emma, Brian, Heather and Dell at a Logan's run a few years back. Very hard to get in the US, normally I have my cousin's ship me some, but one of the styles can be had from Frugal McDougals just over the boarder in FT Mill SC. They have to order it, normally takes 2 weeks to get.

I am loving this thread because....

always been Makers Mark guy, got name on a barrel and have a barrel plate with my barrel number at the house :) ....now been loving Woodford Reserve Distillers Select though want to try the Double Oak badly. Also about killed a Four Roses bottle of their Small Batch. A couple others I have enjoyed tasting though not had a bottle of my own.... Blanton's Single Barrel, 1792 Single Batch, Bulleit 10 yr, Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, Black Maple Hill, and Weller 12 year (which is better than Pappy in my opinion for what it is worth).

For general whiskey had a buddy get me some High West Whiskey...BouRye and Son of BouRye...preferred Son of Bourye myself but both were very good I thought.

Not found a single malt scotch I liked yet...but some have told me not to give up until I try Laphroaig or Glenmorangie....maybe one day. LOL

I've enjoyed reading this post over the past few months and now that Ive joined ONSC I feel I can participate! Acquired the taste and appreciation for bourbon/whisky/rye late in life....(My dad drank Scotch, usually too much, and to this day i cannot stand the smell or taste of it)......and it's just been in the last 3-4 years that i have forayed beyond the Makers Mark, Jack Daniels, Jim Bean, Larceny rut. My now son-in-law worked at a local liquor store since the age of 14 (don't ask, don't tell) and introduced me to some wonderful labels as did some good long time college friends who had appreciated these long before I. To taunt a couple of these good friend who were unable to attend my daughters wedding a few weeks ago I sent pics of what i had in my cabinet that they were not going to be able to partake! Here are the photos as well as a few of the wedding....outdoor ceremony at a farm. My daughter requested that i drive her to the ceremony in our 40 and that the bridesmaids pull up before in our 80 and the groomsmen and pastor in our 62! I am awaiting pics of all this from the photographer!

Why yes I do. Thank you.

BTW, Elijah Craig is helping me nurse a sprained ankle. He is doing a damned good job.
Sorry, Jonathan. I was unable to grab any more bottles before they sold out. No plans to order more, they say. Oh, well. It wasn't the best, but it was pretty good for the money.

It's all good. I've got some Woodford and Elijah Craig right now.

JToobe-

Very nice!! Great lookin' 40, and a very nice whiskey collection to boot. Obviously I see the Lot B Van Winkle, but good choice on the Colonel EH Taylor! I wish it was easier to find, but that's the case with a lot of the better bourbons right now. I have a bottle of the CEHT Barrel Proof at home that I picked up in Brooklyn. Had a taste last night, actually. Welcome to the club!

Here's my latest acquisition:

Thanks Ft. Knox....Nice Knob! Big fan of CEHT....probably my favorite, (recently finished a bottle of Michter's and it was quite good!) i have a small stash of EH as i was in Miami in Feb visiting my mother and went to the nearby Total Wine to pick up a few (5 is a a few, right?) cases of Presidente beer (my warm weather fav) and in FL the beer & liquor are all together so i meander over to see what they had on hand and lo and behold there were 6 bottles of EH small batch and 4 of single batch, 6 bottles of Blanton's and the Jefferson Ocean aged all of which you could not find here in Greenville! I had to limit myself to a $350 spend plus the beer and kicking myself for not getting more. Had a bottle of Blantons but gave it as a gift because i'm such a nice guy!
Story behind the Van Winkle....given to me by son-in-law when he asked for my daughters hand....only after i said yes...which was about 45 min after the question was posed! We shared a drink then, each signed/dated the bottle and then no more was partaken until the wedding day. He and i toasted their marriage with another drink and i shared the rest of the flask with several friends & family (not out of the flask, but out of a crystal tumblers, neat, as it should be enjoyed) who i knew would appreciate it. Have over half the bottle left. I'm debating what to bring on the Hurricane Creek ride next weekend!

Well, since I can't make it to Hurricane Creek, I vote you should save the Van Winkle for Logan's Run!!! :D

figured I would put in the correct thread to keep the other one on track.....

@JToobe I'm hooked on some Woodford Reserve right now. I will be bringing that for some late night sippin.

I just picked up a 1.75L bottle of Woodford Reserve at the abc store for 68.95! Score for me - I thought it was a good price. Plus the 750ml bottle didn't last very long last time....

Zippy is available also if you would like. Just don't do anything yucky in it.

My boss's Whisky/ey cabinet in his office..... he says he keeps the "generic" stuff here for clients and the good stuff at home. I say I wish I had his generic stuff at my home.

Woot..... Heard about it but never had it. Want that made by the grandson of Joseph Magnus and a bunch of distillers that came from various other distilleries? I remember reading a review in a Whisky magazine saying it was one of the best US made Whiskeys bar far.

Yep, that is right. One of my buddies here helped with some start-up capital. I have one of the inaugural bottles unopened at the house!

fixed it for you

Going to crack this open. Down to my final bottle and was gonna stock up on my two week trip West. Not gonna happen soon  Made it just past Augusta, GA on Friday night and broke down. Spent the night on the shoulder of I-20 in the RV suffering traffic and two really bad thunderstorms (including a pretty decent hail storm) waiting for roadside assistance.

Made one of my favorite deserts ever for the Anniversary last night.

Since we got married in Scotland we always try to eat or do one Scottish thing on our Anniversary.

Made a Scotch Mouse

16oz of cadburys milk chocolate
5 table spoons of scotch (I just used a 15 year old Chivas Regal I had lying around)
Two large orange peels, use a cheese grater to finely grate it into a bowl
4 eggs, seperate the yokes and whites
two table spoons of heavy whipping cream

melt chocolate and add scotch and cream

beat egg yokes and orange peel together

beat egg whites

add yoke/peel mixture to chocolate

10 minutes later fold in egg whites

cool in fridge for 4 hours

Cream topping is 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 3 table spoons of scotch and one tea spoon of powdered sugar.

Mix and use to top mouse in individual cups.

Tastes friggen great
