Where are you located? I see you must be in NC. Would love to have a built 120 join us on some rides. My wife has an '05 DD, that won't see the dirt until she gets something new (only had it a year as of now). Come hang out and ride with us! Our big annual event is coming up in a few weeks in URE - Logan's Run.

Check it out!

I'm located in Geensboro, NC. URE is home turf. Looks like a lot of fun. I'll see if I can sign up for the Logan's run.

Yep, saw your switch setup and get it. I didn't see all those switches on ebay so I went a different way :)

Love the build. Let me know when you get this way for a ride, will try to meet up and compare notes!

Thanks! I was down around that area not to long ago. I'd like to meet up and see your build as well so I will definitely let you know the next time I head that direction.

Rock sliders and a busted neck

Yesterday I started cutting out the pieces needed to do the rock sliders. I got a general idea of the design (similar to the FJ X-wing and EVO sliders for the Wrangler) and how I want it but I might change some things along the way.

I have left the idea of bolting on the sliders. Driver side have tons of holes to use on the frame but the passenger side is a little empty. I dont feel like adding a lot of weld screws either or altering the design (think metal tech sliders) to add more weight.

So I will just weld the suckers straight to the frame instead.

I was able to cut out the parts needed for the sliders frame/structure yesterday. And will cut out the rest of the parts once I got this tacked up.

I was planning on building this weekend but I have torn a muscle in my neck and can barley get out of bed (Yes it hurt yesterday lifting all that steel). So not sure when I am strong enough to continue bulding.

Will keep you posted.

Testfitted some parts

Hope you recover quickly. Let me know if you need any help. I have no problem lending a hand and gladly work for beer :D
I am also dying to see this harbor freight welder. I have been contemplating buying one for a year now and my father (professional welding company owner) keeps telling me they are no good and to spend 4-600 more on a lincoln. I am pretty sure a ~$200 one would last me a lifetime.

Thanks. Help would be appreciated especially when welding them in place to the frame. My neck is a little better today and if I feel as good tomorrow I'll try to work on the rock sliders tomorrow. You are welcome to stop by for beer and welding :)

I'll give you a call if I'm planning on doing any work on the truck tomorrow.

sounds good, Ive got some yardwork to take care of in the morning and I am free the rest of the day.

With a lot of help from Bretthn (thanks Brett!) I was able to get some good progress today. I have some welding and boxing to do but am pretty close to have the actual sliders done. Then it's just a matter of adding the legs and welding it on to the frame.

Thanks!

Where in Sweden are you from? Jag är ifrån Göttlaborg själv men bor i NC nuförtiden.

We continued to have some good progress with the sliders today. Brett helped out today as well (thanks!). I am happy with the design we did on the sliders. Kind of a unique look compared to other sliders.

I hope to have them done this weekend and try them out in URE.

Aah I see. Then you got some great nature to explore with your vehicle!

Rock Sliders almost done

I had some pretty good progress on the sliders yesterday. Was able to get the mounting brackets and legs welded on to the sliders. Took some time getting them positioned but it was worth the hassle in the end.

Whats left to do is to grind down some edges and clean them up a bit. Throw some paint on and weld them to the frame.

Grinded down and ready for paint.

Watching paint dry... Just a little bit longer then they are ready to be welded on to the truck.

I'm interested to see how those boxed sections do on the rocks.

Me too. Probably not as practical as round tubes. I might not slide as well if a rock hits one of the edges. But I am sure they will hold up for the extra abuse.

So after a looong evening I am finally done with the sliders and I managed to get them welded to the truck as well.

It looks awesome with them on. And it was very convenient with the extra step to get up on the roof.

It was to dark to take any pictures tonight so I will post some in a day or two.
