Gorgeous truck. Just ordered my suspension - 3" icon with DVS helper kit. Having a tough time deciding between 4.88s in the diffs and high range t-case gears for 35s.

I have the t-case gears. I wish I had went with 4.88s for 2 reasons and probably will switch back to stock gears and get 4.88s or 5.29s.

First and foremost - the high range gears definitely make noise and it bugs me at 30+ mph and especially on the freeway. I have KO2 ATs. If you have mud tires and don’t mind the noise on the highway, the gears probably won’t bother you.

Second - the 1.1 honestly isn’t noticeable while driving. I have 2 80s, one with 1.1 and other with stock gears, both on 33-34” tires. I can’t “feel” a difference between them driving but I certainly hear a difference. (I live in mountain valley at 4500 feet elevation with frequent climbs over mountain passes, at sea level it’s different.)

I love the 3.1 low range gears, they are definitely worth it. I am going to put the turbo on and see how things feel and sound, but right now I plan on yanking the 1.1 gears and changing axle gears.

I agree that the high range t case gears are loud. I honestly don't ever find myself "hearing" mine but I am told mine are even louder than others. I don't DD my 80 so maybe if I did, I would hear them more. Plus I have four 6.5" component speakers in the doors and a JL Audio 10" sub and two amps pushing everything...so maybe that is why I don't hear them, lol.

I noticed a big difference from stock when I did the high and low range t case gears from @cruiseroutfit . Low range is soooo much better and high range with 315's is much improved. I really like having the stronger stock gears in the diffs over 4.56s or 4.88s.

Here I am accelerating up Eisenhower Pass after the high range gears and stock gears in diffs with 315s.

Great info, thanks for sharing. Diff gears are where I have been leaning as I like the feeling of being slightly over-geared.

Wow I've heard that the TC gears made a little noise but I didn't think it was that bad. I've also heard axle gears make noise but I've noticed no difference between stock and 4.88's. BTW, I absolutely love 4.88 gears for everything from city/highway to offroad. The higher RPM band makes driving feel effortless.

I’ve got the Terrain Tamer lower low and underdrive high TC gears.

If I really, really strain to listen I can hear a slight whine on the freeway.

But the whine isn’t louder than my all terrain tires and I normally don’t notice it at all.

LOVE the change in gearing, especially off road and going up and down hills at elevation on the pavement. 2,600 rpm puts me close to 80 mph, near as I can figure with GPS.

Just got the call from SEMA. I made a point to NOT discuss the “incident”. This truck will be going in next week to be baselined and I will doing the mileage accumulation myself. 😒

Also, I’m heading to the pipe shop in the morning to go over the jigs before cutting/welding starts.

So, they're not going to let Super Dave drive it this time? :steer:

I’ve dialed back the design of the turbo kit. Turns out all I really needed was this. VROOM!!

Got there a little too early but the intake pipes start in about an hour.

The downpipe has been jigged and the J-pipe jigged with it. I forgot to bring the wastegate like a dope so they won’t start the downpipe until Tuesday. But things are moving ahead.

Also, I pulled the trigger on the wrinkle black on the intake pipes.

Very very cool. Do you have an estimated time frame when you will start receiving these final pieces & begin assembling complete kit assemblies?

The issue isn’t these, it’s the turbos. But looks like first units should be ready in under a month.

Any idea on Rough ETA of the carb process? Granted I won’t be able to do anything well into July.
