Silly little small trucks. The owner of the TJ is a pleasure to wheel with as I have mentioned before he really knows his rig and how to handle it and doesnt try things if he know he cant make it. The other guy in the XJ however will try anything at anytime untill he breaks or rolls... But yea I know what you mean they try to ang with the big boys but I walked a section they couldnt even try.

is that a blue trail light? if so ho do u like it?

If you look at the first picture in post # 406 it shows them on and the beam is on the ground. Its kinda tough to tell cause it is blurry but they are some cheap driving lights (read NOT fog lights) and are pretty white actually, I think more so than my "head lights" are. Like I say I chose the driving lights because the way the beam is broadcasted and is much broader and as close to a flood light style beam without actually getting one. They do make the light like I have out back in different beam patterns such as the flood light pattern, trapezoidal (like I am using), and I think also a fog beam as well. they are a glass lense and rubber housing and I have had them under water and on in my other 60 with no problems. and last night I had the front driving / rock lights under some muddy water as well with no issues.

Over all I really like them so far, they do a great job at illuminating what i need to see under and around my rig.

Went out wheelin last night and was pleasantly surprised to find a group of trucks that were on the same playing field as me! one was a YJ SOA front quarter eliptical rear with a D60 front all moly and 14B rear all moly on 42" TSLs and recentered H1's. The other a YJ SOA front, 3 link rear, with with D60 front built, and 14B rear (not sure if it was built) on 42" TSL then yet another YJ SOA front and rear balding 39" TSL built D44 front built 14B rear. then a couple of open diffed TJ's and then one locked front and welded rear TJ on 33's. oh and a fullsize chevy with a dually front axle open, 14B rear welded 42" IRoks on H1 double beadlocks.

so needless to say I was in good company. did some fun climbs a couple of which I was able to crawl where they had to throttle up, then a couple of technical sections where it was so twisted and bound up and tires lifting up i couldnt turn even with the ram assist steering (no worries I carried on!) Did everything they did and only had problems in 1 spot cause i was scared to give it the skinny pedal but there was no crawling it. i eventually found the right line and the gearing combination it wanted and put the pedal down and went right up and over the ledge that was taller than the truck. then the YJ with the 3 linked rear while hagling me the whole time saying i wouldnt be the first toyota to go around it (I wasnt goin around, I was gonna make it break it or roll it damnit!) followed behind me and on his second try snapped a rear axle shaft in the 14B. I made sure to let him know it was on to go around like the rest of the jeeps did (cept one).

I have been having an issue with my left front tire burping air and its gotten worse and worse and finally yesterday it went flat right after the big climb. luckily someone had on board air but it was leaking nearly as fast as i could get air in so today i decided to pull it all apart and see what was wrong with it. It was leaking at the bead lock of all places and once i got it apart i found mud in it and that is my best guess of the leak but you could hear it burp with every tire rotation and it has a slow and stead leak just sitting. got it apart and used a farm jack / hi lift to just the bead off by putting it under the slider of the truck and removed the wheel. cleaned all the rust and mud out, cleaned the lock ring as well and re painted it since it was off. re assembled it all using soapy water to drop the bead on and put the lock ring on and centered it as best as possible. it looked lke it was a hair off before not sure how big a deal that is but i took my time to make sure it was perfect got it back lined up put anti seize on all 16 bolts and tightened them in a cross pattern untill they were finally tight (took multiple rotations as i wanted it to be as even as possible all the way around) then went back around them all a couple of times to make sure they were all evenly tight and snug aired up the tire checked for leaks and all seems good!

found all the places the tires rub and took out one of my new rock lights and cracked the other, not sure if the tire smacked it (i dont think so) or if climbing the ledge one of the many rocks i was throwing beamed them, they still work but i will be needing a replacement im sure as the bulb is no longer protected and soon as i hit water with it on i can see it popping.

all in all a good night and alot of fun followed by a lazy day today of fixing and finding issues that have either come up or were made.

found i have to replace the driver side tie rod end as the threads are stripped on it and i may still need to pull off the left rear tire and do some cleaning. I dont like running at 15 psi I much prefer 8-10 psi but with tires burping i have been running them higher. but for wheeltoberfest ill be running 10 and see what happens may drop em to 8, im told below that they loose the inner bead I really want to be at 6 psi but can settle for 8 i guess. Im buying a 20lb CO2 tank from a buddy of mine for cheap just need to re cert it then i will have on board air if i need it but would kinda like to have a compressor type so i have unlimited in case others need it too.

Well as of earlier I didn't have a leak anymore from that tire. Found some clear silicon on the bead lock side of the wheel but it was on the backside and wouldn't / doesn't contact the bead anyplace. Had some rust on the inside bead too but nothing major it caused a little pitting tho. I think it should be ok now that I scrubbed everything down on that one.

Knuckles are driving me crazy gonna have to do that when I get back.

Also did you put in new rear axle seals with the polys? The long side is leaking a little which worries me after reading a couple threads...

only the long side is leaking... I hope its just a seal from all of the abuse... Im sure thats why the front leaks so hopefully it is the same for the rear and not a bad axle shaft. Im going to pull it apart when I get back and re weld the rear diff as it is a little loose, replace the passenger side backing plate as the pull lever is frozen up and cant be freed and while im there ill pull the axles out to inspect them for any damage or early wear and replace the leaking seal. and i noticed today i need front brake pads too. list just keeps growing.

I also need to replace one of the "headlights" cause when i broke the second one off it worked but once i welded it back on it now doesnt work anymore.
Im finding it kinda hard to not break them off of there.... sucks cause I like them. maybe if i invest in some metal housing ones they would be more protected from me? $$

ok well went down to the hidden falls adventure park in marble falls texas this last fri-sun for wheeltoberfest. It was a lot of fun as most wheeling trips are when the rain doesnt wash you away and start snowing out of nowhere... (round up 2010)... anyhow, friday went out and followed a bunch of FJ cruisers around and ended up running alot of trail in reverse to spice things up then took off on my own to cross a creek with a verticle rock ledge and a nasty and loose hill climb on the other side I made it after a couple of trys with no problems. then took off up the creek with a 40 on 37" IRoks following me. then all the FJ's followed us as well somewhere in the process the welded rear busted and i only had power going to the right rear. wheel on! so i finished the day and had a welder on the way the next day.

Got it welded up at about noon on saturday then went for a run and by about 3 or 4 i broke it again... this time not a welded rear.. I snapped a poly performance short side rear axle shaft. Didnt know it till the wheel and tire fell out on the trail. It broke while trying to climb a class 5 that was some of the loosest stuff I have ever encountered! all 4 tires would spin and the truck not move before i even got to the obstical! so it required some throttle which i gave it nearly made it up the climb when it popped out of third gear (damnit!!! (probably also when i lost the axle shaft)) I tried to attempt the climb again but the truck just crab legged down the hill sideways nearly putting me in a roll situation. So depressed i headed down the hill since i couldnt turn to get back at it (likely due to the broken rear shaft) as i headed down the hill the rear axle and tire came out and when the truck dropped i instantly knew what it was. No matter what I had to drive down the hill and in the process i decided to drive back to camp how it sat! then got to the RTI ramp and promptly rolled her over to finish the day right.

1.) my buddy with his 40 and I were bumping and hitting each other all weekend and driving over each other tires and even one time where we were driving and i started pushing him off the trail with my tire on his . (he bent his bumper trying to follow me up the creek ledge, but in his defense he did end up making it)
