to bob it or cut the back off or both? Mine took about 10 full days worth of work and it still technically isn't done. It really doesn't cost much if you are resourceful, after all, you're removing stuff, not adding.

How bout buy Cattywampus?...

To bob the U80 8 inches were cut out and removed then welded back up. 8 inches is the most that can be cut without having to move the gas filler. The 2 rear body mounts are easily cut off and welded back onto the frame 8 inches forward.

Hey, your axles look nice ! Are they portals ?

I'm a total lazy bum when it comes to replying to posts. I'm pretty much done with my bob, and I'm very happy with it. I've invested a considerable amount of time and energy to get it done, but not a lot of money.

Welding wire, bondo, sand paper, and diamond plate. I had it bent and formed to make it look nice after all that cutting. You'll see some in the pictures.

hey torslinning, I look to be coming up to Seattle in the next 2 weeks. i can't wait to see this beast. Unfortunately I sold Cattywampus to a friend, so these two cool rigs won't wheel together, but I'll be back in soon enough. Any jobs you know of? I'm looking!

I had the priviledge of seeing Tor's work first hand a little while ago.... Very nice! So much nicer than I mine...
Tor, I hope you don't mind me posting some pics I took.
It was very nice to meet you.

I'm bringing this thread back to life today because I have another addition to this project. Hoping to build a new bumper in the rear with side protection and 2" receiver hitch for my off road trailer.

This will be done in the next few days, so I hope to show a finished product by the end of the week

Tor, how extremely ironic. I was going to PM you along these lines today.

Hi All:

Todd, stop harassing the dude! He has already admitted that he is "extremely lazy" at replying to forum posts! ;)

Regards,

Alan

Alan, Quit picking on Todd !! :)

okay, so the hoop is built, and tied in to the side protection. I don't have a tubing bender so I hired someone to build that section for me.

Now I have to tie in to a 2" receiver hitch for my off-road trailer, and the winch line. I won't have any time until some customer rigs are out of the shop, so hopefully end of the week.

Tor ill have to come over and check out your rig in person. My rig runs now !
Im thinkin about doing a run up to evans creek in the next few weekend to stretch the rigs proverbial legs if your interested.

I'd love to do a run, but am packing for Moab this weekend and leaving next Tuesday. I still want to see your rig though, have been following your thread. I'm around all week, just working on cruisers, I'm up by Lowes

Here are some snaps of the tube, don't mind the dents :p I've been wheeling it like crazy for the past year, and taken some pretty tight trails here in the NW

Things to come: I have to build a 2" receiver hitch, and slot for the winch line. The top needs to be filled in with some flat steel.

does your cruiser have lockers? you should come by so I can take a look at it, I can't wait to see the engine swap
Factory elocked F&R
Im down to hit some trails but im not a hardcore crawler. My rig isnt a trailer queen but I would like to keep the body in decent shape. I dont want to be replacing tail lights ;)

That's what sucks about wheeling around here, it gets wet and slippery, then the tree's jump right into your panels!

You'll be surprised how capable your 80 is with just a mild lift though
