I'm going to need to widen the axle housings for a project I've got going on and was just wondering if it's a good idea to sleeve the axle shafts to get them where they need to be, or will I have to get new shafts made?

Thanks.

Get new ones made!

I don’t believe sleeved shafts would last very long. I don’t know what axles your building but I can’t see how you would get a sleeved axle slid through the seals without destroying them.

They're 80 series axles, and I completely forgot about getting them past the seals. New shafts it is, then. Thanks for the reality check!

I’m about 20 minutes up the road from Tom Woods and spoke with them today about axle shafts. I knew they don’t mess with them, but figured they’d be a good place to start networking from. They referred me to a local shop that makes custom axle shafts and I figure, if Tom Woods is going to recommend a place, it’s going to be as good as any.

Branik Motorsports for new shafts for D60 stuff. If looking for 80 series then call RCV and have custom shafts made.
