If anything I'm getting slightly better mileage with the 10K.
I marked the valve plate before it was moved. Started out with it slightly to the cooler side (don't remember the temp settings), but it was on too much for my liking and the climate here. If set at 95F, the "cold" under hood temp is higher than that about 80% of the year, so it's on most of the time. Moved it back to stock, then slightly to the hot side. I found that coupled with the thicker fluid it works very well this way. It cycles more like an electric would, but with the thicker fluid it's much more effective when it's on.
I found, for me the best place to play with it is on the trail. If I let it idle for a few minutes, when first throttled it will be on strong. With the setting to the cold side it would stay on well past "needed", now it's only on for a few seconds even on hot days w/ the A/C, etc. I like the results of the thick fluid, but if your going to run 10K+, keep up on your belt maintenance, if their even slightly loose they will slip when you stab the skinny petal in low range.
