Just completed changing out the fluid to 15K on my black hub. I didnt bother adjusting it. Pretty simple process.

Well after a few miles of driving i can deduce that changing the oil made zero difference. Within a degree or 2 at highway speeds and still creeping up when idling. More troubleshooting required....![]()
I just did about 30 miles and temp was 187 and it crept up to 192 when idling. It's not the warmest of days here - miss 70s
No roar on startup. There was before. Just checked it and I can move the fan fairly easily at the moment even though it should be hot. Is it possible for the hub to break?
Those numbers are at the low end of normal, the thermostat isn't even fully open, fan isn't needed, so shouldn't be engaged. About 45ml works well in Aisin clutches.
Since we moved to Florida I have noticed that she was running a little warmer that she did in California. I chalked it off to the higher humidity. Then last week when I was sat in traffic it started to climb up into the 200's. In addition my external temp sensor which is located in the front grill started to climb also. From this i deduced that the fan was not drawing air into the engine. I wanted to get in front of this before the real heat starts here in a week or too. My truck is a '94 but it has only 131k under the hood. Hub looked ok when I had it off.Yep, what problem were you trying to solve? The black hub is a good clutch, most that we see are still good, but are getting old, so have the probability of problems.

I would consider 186° a normal water temp reading on a stock 1FZ given your conditions
