Spring over for the win.
What’s your plans for that?

What I’ve got so far are the spring over kit from ruff stuff and Marlin high steer. Probably going with 63” Chevy springs in the rear. Still thinking through the front end....

Rear cross member and bumper mounts gone....those rivets are no joke. C-channels next.

Progress!

Hey - If you're still looking for some OEM rear springs to run up front...did you see these? -->

- Brian

Well, I finally started doing something. Since my last post I kind threw the rig back together in it’s current state so I could do all the spring/summer wheeling events around here. I replaced the glass, turned one of my old sliders into a rear bumper and found a serviceable rear driveshaft and was ready...then covid hit and everything got moved!

I did take the truck out on one ride. Did great but found out I have a broken pin on the connector for my winch controller so will have to add that to the list.

So after that ride I pulled the rig into the garage and started the spring over this week.

how it currently sits...

Now I’m in more rivet hell....old spring perches have to come off for the new set up...3 down, 9 more to go...and then c channels eventually...SO many rivets!

what application are those springs for? I'd add the overload leaf. Make sure to start budgeting now for quality, stiff-valved shocks. Don't skimp here.

they are from a 3/4 ton Chevy. I haven’t made a decision on the shocks yet. Was going to make some measurements after setting up the springs and go from there.

Yeah, shocks should be the LAST thing you buy. Have your mounts tacked in and measure really well before ordering. But have the money put aside for good ones. The reason SOA’s get a bad rap is usually because people are too cheap to spend for quality dampers. Which will absolutely make or break your ride quality and driving experience

X2. I thought mine rode pretty good, and then I got good shocks and bumpstops. Man, what a difference.

Thanks fellas, good feedback. It certainly hasn’t been cheap so far so won’t be throwing cheapo shocks at it.

what do y’all think on the 3/4 ton springs, overload leaf needed or no?

Definitely needed. Keep it.

Bonus of keeping it, you won't need to run an anti-wrap bar.

Another bracket gone....at 30 minutes of project time per month this is going to be one hell of a roller coaster....y’all hold on! 👍🍺

Found some more time today. On the plus side all the old hangers are off the frame. On the minus side I have rot in the frame I need to repair. I plan to cut this out, fill it back with plate, and then put a doubler plate over it....

The holes

A 3/4 chisel hanging out for some perspective....

Progress update over the last couple months. I got the hole in the frame patched awhile ago

Next is moving on to boxing the c-channel and then prepping rear axle.

A good look at how nasty those old channels were
