Finally got my arb sliders on and blacked out the barn doors and both side vents. My de-chroming of the 60 has finally started. I used some left over eastwood chassis black for the sliders and barn doors- came out nice- I still have a few spots to touch up though.

Does the chrome around the windows just come off and leave paint?

Great attention to detail, your shine looks great! What do you like using?

That really looks great. Congratulations!

Thanks , I have been using Zaino brothers for years. I havent found anything that goes on as easy and lasts as long. I usually clay bar each season and then do a monthly to bimonthly maint polish with a bi weekly wash. Paint is still soft and has some gravel marks but I am learning to live it............sort of:mad:

Howdy! I think the chrome strips on the side windows are just like the front windshield. It is an insert that add body and stability to the weather strip/molding. I think the glass can come out without it. I'm sure you could pull it long enough to black it out. John

I'm a fan of Zaino brothers too. I'll be top coating with their all-in-one after I do my compounding to get rid of the oxidization. I must admit that I don't like their clay bars though, mines getting pretty gumming and really sticking to my hand and it's only the second car on this bar. Maybe I got a bad batch. Anyways your results speak for the process and the products.

Howdy! If the bar works OK, but it's just sticky, try vynl or nytril gloves. John

You know it is funny you mention that as my last bar was that way- I thought it was just out in the sun too long or something. I think the bar can be gotten from any reputable mfr. I used the all in one and went back to the Z2 and Z5 pro- It was an easier application and more consistent coverage. I used the all in one for lighter colors with good success though.

Great idea John, dont know why I didn't think of that. I've even got gloves already!

Looking better and better, and I didn't think that was possible. I'm definitely gonna black mine out soon...

Might check Steele Rubber and Metro Molded Parts for the non-chrome lock strip. I know they have it, but I don't know if any of their options are the same shape.

yes the chrome strips around the windows comes off and leaves the pain on behind it. They come off pretty easy.

Gulp

We are not worthy!!!Looking sooooo fine. Wow!!!

Thanks Doc, You keep your head down there on the coast.

way to go smky :flipoff2:

I didn't clay bar mine, although, maybe I should have
- I wet-sanded most of the front grille
- applied bulldog adhesion promoter
- sprayed 2 coats of SEM self etching primer
- sprayed 2 coats of Seymour flat black
- no clear coat...but, after a few nicks, maybe I should have :bang:

looks like you painted your mirrors too...sweet :grinpimp:

Mirrors came black from Spector- Dave We go to asheville all the time- I will be down in weaverville next week to finish up my stereo install. Its funny the only people that give a s*** about a clean 60 are Cruiserheads- I must say that this rig brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. My next goals are rear bumper with tire swingout and arb short roof rack, then maybe rear locker....maybe. I put a new alternator on it today and If my dumbass didnt drop a screw on my gravel driveway I would have had it done it 15 minutes. I Love working on such a simple machine.
